Chapter 13: Duelling Lesson and Parseltongue

"Alright students!"
We were gathered in the Great Hall for a duelling lesson and it had to be taken by.... ugh Lockhart. Gryffindors were standing on one side of the table while the Slytherins stood on the other side. I stood between Draco and Katie and watched as Lockhart threw his cloak to some of his fan girls. Eww.....
"Alright now Professor Dumbledore has asked me to take over this class and teach you a bit about duelling.... now may I introduce to you my assistant, Professor Snape!"
Snape walked onto the table and I smirked slightly, this is going to be good...
"Now why don't we start off with the Disarming Charm?"
Lockhart and Snape both walked into the middle and held their wands up, they put them down and walked back, getting into their duelling stance.
"On my mark.... one.... two..."
"Expelliarmus!!"
Snape yelled and a scarlett red light shot out of his wand, sending Lockhart flying backwards, landing on his back. Draco and some Slytherins started laughing while me and Katie let out a slight giggle.
"Ahh yes! Excellent use of the Disarming Charm Professor...."
Snape looked blankly at Lockhart and raised an eyebrow.
"Well Professor I think that maybe you should teach students how to defend dangerous spells...."
Lockhart's cheeks went a bit pink, obviously embarrassed and started mumbling. I giggled and Snape looked down at me, I smiled up at him and he smiled back, putting a finger to his lips.
"Well now, how about we have some volunteers?? Ah! Harry, Ron, come up here!"
Harry climbed onto the table and Ron was about to when Snape started talking.
"Mr Weasley's wand isn't.... working the best at the moment, I suggest maybe taking someone from my own house?? Malfoy maybe??"
"Alright then fine, pick a girl as well.... umm Hermione! Come up here..."
Snape looked down at me and smiled.
"I'll have Miss Lightwood against Miss Granger then..."
I climbed onto the table and smiled at Draco. He smirked and pulled me closer to him, whispering in my ear.
"Knock Granger off her feet.."
I giggled and walked over to the middle, holding out my wand.
"No hard feelings right Mione??"
"Sure thing... Lightwood.."
She smirked and I raised an eyebrow.
"Your so on Granger.."
I walked back and pointed my wand at her.
"Ok Disarming only..... on my mark, one, two, three!"
"Expelliarmus!!"
We both yelled at the same time, quickly disarming each other. But I was quicker than her... I grabbed my wand out of the air and pointed at her.
"Stupefy!!"
Hermione was shot backwards and Slytherin started cheering, I smirked and walked over to Draco.
"Well done princess..."
He gave me a tight hug and I looked over at Snape.
"Very impressive Miss Lightwood..... as always..."
I smiled and stood back, while Draco walked over to Harry.
"Scared Potter??"
"You wish..."
They both walked to the end of the table and Draco winked at me. They turned to face each other and pointed their wands at each other.
"Disarming only.... on my mark.... one.. two...-."
"Stupefy!!"
Potter shot backwards and fell over, I giggled slightly and Draco smiled at me. Potter got back on his feet and pointed his wand at Draco.
"Rictusempra!!"
A jet of silver light hit Draco and he fell backwards on the floor. I winced slightly, feeling his pain, Snape picked him up off the floor and shoved him towards Potter.
"I said disarm only!!"
Nobody listened to Lockhart as he tried to get the attention of the two students. Draco pointed his wand at Harry and smirked.
"Serpensortia!!"
He waved his wand and a long black snake appeared out of his wand. I froze slightly and watched as it sat up tall, ready to strike at any moment. I grabbed onto Draco's arm and stood behind him, I watched as the snake slithered closer to a Hufflepuff called Justin Finch-Fletchley, it's fangs extended. I looked over at Potter who was telling the snake to stop, while everyone else looked at him in shock.
"Leave him alone!"
The snake looked at him and slithered closer to Justin. I stood in front of Draco and walked over to the snake.
"He said leave him alone...."
The snake looked at me and I glared at it, it slithered away from Justin and turned into a puff of black smoke. I turned around to see that Professor Snape has gotten rid of it, but he was looked at me, shocked.
"What the hell are you two playing at?!"
I looked over at Justin who looked at us angrily. I looked at Potter confused and looked back at Justin.
"What are you talking about??"
"Dawn...."
I looked back at Draco, shocked. He normally calls me love..... why do I feel sad about that?? And what just happened?!
"Y-you were speaking Parseltongue...."
I heard someone giggle and looked at Parkinson.
"You really are the Heir of Slytherin aren't you Lightwood?! Only the Heir can speaks Parseltongue!!"
My hands turned into fists and I glared at Parkinson, before I could do anything Professor Snape grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the class.
"Class Dismissed, all of you out!!"
I looked back at Draco who was quickly following me with Crabbe and Goyle, I could also see that Katie and Nicole were following them as well. Snape pulled me into his office and closed the door behind him so no one could get inside, he turned to me.
"Do you have any idea of what you have just done?! Now everyone will think that you are the Heir of Slytherin!"
"I didn't even know that I was doing it! I didn't even know that I was capable of doing that..."
Snape sighed and sat down at his desk.
"The only way you are even able to do that is if you are somehow related to the another Parseltongue......"
I froze and looked at him, I knew what he was going to ask and I didn't like it....
"Dawn, we all know that your parents are Damien and Alice Lightwood but not many people know about your mothers past..... who was her family?"
I looked at Snape and sighed.
"T-they were the Cooper family....  a small half-blood family..."
Snape's eyes narrowed and he stood up, leaning closer to me.
"Don't. Lie. To. Me..."
I looked down and didn't say anything.
"Dawn.... who was your mother's family??"
"My mother was Alice Riddle...... daughter of Tom Riddle, or we now know him as-."
"He-Who-shall-not-be-named....... that's your grandfather??"
I nodded and just looked at my shoes.
"My mother didn't want me near him...... she didn't want him to use me as one of minions...."
I was still looking at my shoes when I felt Snape put an arm on my shoulder.
"I'll have to inform your parents about this...... but it's nothing to worry about.... I'll try and stop any rumours that Miss Parkinson spread.."
I nodded and smiled slightly.
"Thank you Professor but...... why are you helping me??"
He looked down at me and smiled.
"I just want you and Draco to have a normal life...... I was in love too you know..... but I let her go.."
I nodded and walked towards the door but I heard Professor Snape's voice again.
"Oh and Miss Lightwood....."
I turned around to face him.
"Draco doesn't plan on letting you go..... so please try not to give him a reason to..."
I nodded and walked out the door, I was first greeted by a hug from Draco, I hugged him back and smiled.
"Are you ok princess??"
I nodded and giggled.
"Yeah I'm fine..... Snape's just going to try and stop the rumours that Parkinson started...."
They all nodded and we started walking to our class when I pulled Draco back for a moment.
"What is it princess??"
What Snape had said rings in my mind and I wanted to ask Draco something.
"Please promise me you'll never let me go...."
"Huh? Princess what are you-."
"Just please.... promise?"
Draco looked at me and smiled, he took my hand and kissed it, looking down at the ring he got me and back up at my eyes.
"Always princess..."
I smiled and hugged him close, I kissed his cheek and we walked to our next class.
