Chapter 8: Moving houses and New enemies

I got on the train and sat with Katie and Nicole. I opened my 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' book and Katie gasped.
"Is that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?!"
"Yeah! I got it as a present at the end of last year."
"Really? Who gave it to you?"
I looked at them both and gulped. Nicole and Katie were both from pureblood families and despises Mudbloods....
I took a deep breath and looked at them.
"H-Hermione Granger...."
They both looked at me with wide eyes. I sat there nervously and looked down.
"You are friends with a Mudblood?"
"She actually isn't that bad, she already knows basic spells and she also has read most books..."
Katie smiles slightly but Nicole didn't look too pleased. Nicole's family were very strict and there were rumours that her father was a death eater.
"She also can perform the Blasting Charm...."
Nicole's eyes lit up, that was one of the spells that she wanted to learn but her mother wouldn't allow her too.
"Really?! Do you think she could teach it to me one day??"
I laughed and smiled.
"Of course, well... depends if your nice to her. She is kind of a know-it-all.... just a heads up..."
Nicole nodded and smiled, she was kind of the know-it-all in my little group. It was like I had my own Trio..... I was about to open my book again when Katie grabbed my arm.
"What is it Katie??"
She pointed outside our compartment to see Pansy Parkinson trying to kiss Draco. I got up furiously but Katie stopped me.
"You know she can't know about you two..."
"Wait you two? Is there something going on between you and Malfoy??"
Nicole smirked at me and I rolled my eyes.
"Katie explain to her what's going on, I'm going change into my robes and have a 'chat' with Parkinson."
She nodded and I left my compartment, I saw Pansy walked over to the changing rooms without her little gang, perfect. I walked into the changing rooms after her and 'accidentally' dropped my Gryffindor robes in front of her. She looked at me and glared at me.
"Oh look, another annoying Gryffindor..."
She shoved a red-headed girl out of the way to look at me, that must be Ron's sister again.
Ugh her voice was so annoying! I rolled my eyes and paid no attention to her as I started changing. That obviously made her mad and turned to face me.
"Hey I'm talking to you!"
I looked at her and shrugged, taking off my shirt, showing my dragon tattoo. She obviously didn't see it and shoved me.
"Listen hear you stupid Mudblood I-."
She stopped when I turned to face her, my eyes were glowing white and I could feel my tattoo glowing as well.
"What did you call me??"
She didn't say anything at first and still looked at me, shocked. I pushed her against the wall and slammed my fist against the wall beside her head.
"I said what did you call me Parkinson?!"
"S-Sorry!"
She squeaked and finished putting on her robes, she ran out of the changing rooms and I giggled slightly.
"Wow Lightwood...."
I turned to see the red-headed girl I saw in the book store.
"You ok?? That wasn't very nice of her to do that to a first year like you...."
She nodded as I put on my shirt.
"What's your name kid??"
"G-Ginny Weasley..."
I giggled slightly as I put on my tie.
"I could tell that your a Weasley, your the one that stood up to Harry in that book store against Malfoy..."
I put on my jumper as a lot of girls started whispering and looking at Ginny. She looked down, obviously blushing and I giggled slightly.
"It's ok Ginny..."
I put a hand on her arm.
"That was very brave of you...."
I smiled and put on my robes, I gave one last look at Ginny and smiled. A lot of other first years were talking to her now and asking her about how she stood up to Malfoy. I walked out of the changing rooms and bumped into Draco.
"Hey I heard that you gave Parkinson a good scare..."
I smirked and flicked my hair to one side.
"Well she did try to kiss you...."
I looked down and fiddled with my robes.
"You saw that??"
I nodded and rolled my eyes.
"Stupid pug faced bitch...."
I muttered under my breath and smiled at Draco.
"I'm going back to my compartment..."
"Ok bye love."
He winked at me and I blushed. I walked back to my compartment and sat down.
"Heard you gave Parkinson a scare, what did she say??"
"She was picking on a first year and called me a Mudblood..."
Both Nicole and Katie's jaws dropped.
"She called the descendant of the FIRST EVER magic family in the HISTORY of wizards and witches a MUDBLOOD?!?! Do she not know who you are?? Your family is like wizard royalty, your house is basically a castle!! And she calls you a Mudblood???"
I laughed as Katie kept ranting on while Nicole just rolled her eyes and kept reading her book 'World of Spells'.

We finally got to the castle, I said my goodbyes to Katie and Nicole and went and sat on the Gryffindor table. The first years were sorted into their houses and Ginny came and sat next to me.
"Hi Dawn!"
She beamed at me and I giggled.
"Hey Little Miss Celebrity.... glad you could make it to Gryffindor..."
"Wait What did you call her??"
I looked over at Ron who was eyeing Ginny as she was talking to some other first years.
"Didn't you hear Ron? Parkinson had a go at Dawn and called her a Mudblood...."
Hermione shuddered at the word slightly and I held her hand. She smiled and carried on.
"Apparently Dawn's eyes glowed white and slammed Parkinson against the wall and scared her off. Ginny then was talking with Dawn and told the whole changing room how she defended Harry in the book store against Malfoy."
Me and Hermione looked at Harry and smirked. Harry choked on his drink and a light shade of pink appeared on his face.
"So Dawn! How come you had on Slytherin robes when we saw you in the book store??"
"O-oh I-."
I was interrupted by Professor Dumbledore as he stood to start his speech.
"As of today I would like to welcome our new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher.... Gilderoy Lockhart."
Lockhart stood up and bowed, most of the girls started swooning over him including Hermione. I rolled my eyes as did Harry and Ron.
"And finally I would please like Dawn Lightwood to come up here..."
Everyone looked at me as I walked up to the teacher's table. I looked up at Dumbledore and he gave me a small smile, I looked round and saw that the Sorting Hat was placed in front of me.
"Dawn Lightwood! I have been watching you ever since I put you in Gryffindor and I believe that I have made the wrong decision...... you do not belong in Gryffindor."
A lot of people started to gasp and whisper but I just looked at the Sorting Hat.
"Hmmm... what's this? You don't look concerned or confused young Lightwood..... want to elaborate??"
I shook my head and kept on looking at the Sorting Hat. I felt my eyes flash white and the Sorting Hat looked surprised, if it even can...
"Looks like you already know what house you will be in eh?? Well then.... like father, like daughter...."
I narrowed my eyes at the Sorting Hat and spoke up.
"I am not like my father...."
Almost everyone in the room gasped at my words, even some of the teachers. The Sorting Hat sighed.
"Well then, I still know where I'm gonna put you..... SLYTHERIN!!!"
Everyone gasped even more and I felt a white light shine around me, my Gryffindor robes changed to Slytherin ones and I smiled to myself.
"You may go and sit with the other Slytherin's...."
I walked over to the Slytherin table and sat between Draco and Katie with Nicole opposite me. I could hear others whisper,
"What is she still acts like a pesky Gryffindor?? Wow... what a freak... Can't even make up her mind in what house she want to be in!"
I rolled my eyes and just sighed. This will be a long year....
