Chapter 21: Alec Lightwood and Buckbeak

My father grabbed both my arms and he looked at me dead in the eye.
"Leave her alone...."
I screamed out in pain and held my head. I could hear a voice in my head.
"Dawn~ don't let this old man tell you what to do~ you could join me..... we'll rule together..... forever...."
I giggled slightly and felt my eyes glow white again.
"Your offer is tempting..... but I know better than that~"
I opened my eyes and dark cloud left my body. I fell to the floor and tears fell down my face, I breathed heavily and my father helped me up.
"Dawn...."
I looked up at him and smiled weakly.
"It's ok father..... it's not your fault..."
He smiled and everything went black.

I woke up in the hospital wing and I groaned. I clutched my head and sat up.
"Dawn...."
I looked up to see my father, I smiled and held out my hand. He took it and suddenly hugged me. I was shocked at first but hugged back. He's not usually a hugger.... I turned around to see my mother at the end of my bed.
"Mother...."
She smiled and hugged me close.
"Oh Dawn.... we are so sorry...."
I smiled and wiped away her tears.
"It's alright mother..... it's not your fault..."
She smiled and I looked around.
"Where's Draco??"
There was a moment of silence until my mother pointed over to another hospital bed. I looked over and felt my face go white. Draco was lying on a hospital bed, his face was sweating and he would twitch every so often. The deep gash in his hand was still there and there was a black and light blue mark going up his arm. My eyes widened and I ran over to his bed.
"Draco!!"
I could feel tears flooding down my face as I sat down on the end of his bed. I looked around to see Professor Snape who was also in the same state as Draco. Someone came behind me and hugged me close, I looked up to see Hermione. My eyes widened and I looked over at my parents, they smiled slightly and nodded. I smiled and hugged Hermione close.
"It's ok Dawn...."
I nodded and wiped my tears. I walked out of the hospital wing with Hermione, Katie and Nicole. We were walking in silence until Katie pulled me off to the side.
"Dawn.... what happened to you?? Your eyes were glowing blue...."
I shivered slightly at the thought and sighed.
"I-I can't talk about it....... not now at least.... can we please just go to our next class?"
They nodded and smiled slightly.
"We have Care of Magical Creatures.... maybe that will cheer you up..."
I smiled slightly and nodded, we walked out of the castle and down to a small clearing. Most of the students were already there, we said goodbye to Hermione and stood with the Slytherins. Most of them were looking at me but I didn't care, I just looked down at my shoes. Some came up to me and told me it was ok, I smiled and thanked them, but it didn't do anything.
"Alright class..... I would like you to say hello to Buckbeak!!"
Everyone seemed to tense when they saw a hippogriff walk out in front of them. I shrugged and moved closer so that I could have a better look.
"Now..... who wants to say hello??"
Everyone took a step back apart from me and Harry. Hagrid turned around and smiled.
"Ahh Harry and Dawn! Good of you to volunteer... who wants to go first??"
Before Harry could say anything I stood forward and raised my hand. Hagrid smiled and gestured me over. I walked over to Hagrid and looked at Buckbeak, he eyed me cautiously and I bowed down low. He looked at me for a while and bowed as well, I sighed in relief and walked over to pet him. I smiled slightly and the rest of the class started clapping.
"Well done Dawn!! Now for a ride!!"
Hagrid picked me up and placed me on Buckbeak's back. I looked down at Hagrid confused.
"Uhhh... Hagrid?? Are you sure about this??"
"Of course! Now make sure you don't pull out any feathers and hold on tight. Off you go!!"
Hagrid hit the back of Buckbeak and we were off, I screamed and held on tight, slamming my eyes shut.

I opened them again and I was gliding over the lake. I gasped and a smile appeared on my face,  this is amazing...... I laughed as we flew over the Whomping Willow and back down to the ground. I climbed off Buckbeak and the whole class started cheering and clapping. I placed my feet on the ground and Katie brought me into a tight hug.
"Thank Merlin Dawn!! I didn't think you would come back!!"
I giggled slightly and Nicole smiled.
"At least it took your mind off things..."
I nodded and turned back to Buckbeak, petting him. I heard someone scoff behind me, great.... I was just feeling better....
"Your not so dangerous.... you big ugly git.."
I looked over at Parkinson who was coming towards me and I stiffened. I looked at Buckbeak and he took a few steps back before screeching and scratching Parkinson's arm. She fell backwards and held her arm, I ran in front of her.
"Hey hey..... it's ok..."
I looked up at Buckbeak and felt a slash go down my right eye. I fell backwards and could hear people screaming.
"Dawn!!"
I was helped up to my feet and I put my hand over my right eye. It stung like hell and I pulled my hand away, I looked down at my hand to see blood dripping down it. My eyes widened and my right eye stung, I hissed in pain and sat down.
"Dawn!! Are you ok?!"
I looked over at Hermione who helped me off the ground. I shook my head and was carried to the hospital wing.

I was taken into the hospital wing and sat down on one of the beds. I looked around to see that Draco was still knocked out and that his family was there. Narcissa saw me and ran over to me.
"Oh Dawn!! What happened to you!?"
I moved my hand from my eye and she gasped. She looked over at Madam Pomfrey angrily.
"Help her! I don't want my daughter-in-law bleeding to death!!"
I blushed bright red, daughter-in-law..... Oh Merlin I'm going to be Mrs Malfoy... I smiled slightly at the thought and Madam Pomfrey walked over to me.
"What happened dear??"
"Parkinson scared Hagrid's hippogriff Buckbeak and the he attacked her. I tried to stop him but he caught my eye.."
She nodded and worked on my eye. An hour went by and she had finished,
"There you go dear...."
I smiled and looked in the mirror, I still have a scar from where I got hit...... I can just cover it with my hair... I moved my hair in front of my right eye and smiled. Hermione was about to say something when Narcissa yelled with delight.
"Oh Draco!! Your awake!!"
My eyes widened and I looked over at Draco. He was sitting up and he seemed to be fine. Some marks were still there from where he was hurt but he seemed to be fine. He looked over at me and smiled brightly.
"Dawn...."
I smiled and could feel tears forming in my eyes.
"Draco!!"
I ran over to him and jumped into his arms, he chuckled slightly and held me close.
"Mmm... I missed you so much princess..."
I giggled slightly and smiled.
"I missed you too.."
I kissed him softly and he touched my right cheek.
"Princess...."
He tried to move my hair but I stopped him. I looked down at the ground, ashamed and he took his hand away.
"It's ok..."
I smiled and climbed off his lap, he got off the bed and we walked to our next class.
