(Back to present day, in the hospital -David's POV)
It's been 13 fucking hours.
Natalie was 5 centimeters, she got the epidural at 3.
She was currently napping.
She was like super women or something. I watched each contraction come and go. And before the epidural she took it like a champ.
Then after she would shift uncomfortably but still, super women.
She got frustrated, 20 minutes ago. And I had to calm her down.
She just wanted to meet her.
Joe was taking pictures and videos for the birth video. It would be nice, when I don't have to edit that and can just be with Nat, and our baby girl.
3 more hours passed and the doctor came in.
She was still 5 centimeters.
She cried, and cried.
"Somethings not right," she whimpered. I sat on the bed and put one arm on either side of her. She had straps on her belly and wires everywhere.
"What's the matter baby?"
"She isn't moving, and I'm not progressing, somethings wrong David." She rubbed her eyes.
The doctor came back in. He was talking with Natalie.
"We can give it another hour." He shrugged, looking a little lost.
I pushed her hair out of her face, and she shook her head. "Somethings wrong she needs to come out, we can't keep waiting."
And sure enough, 30 minutes later, she was being set up to get a c-section, and the baby's heart rate dropped drastically.
She trusted her instincts, and that was the only reason the doctors got to her quick enough.
So now I was sitting by her head holding her hand, Joe, (with photographer privilege), was filming.
20 minutes later they pulled out our baby girl, and she cried loudly.
"It's a girl!" The doctor said over her cries.
They brought her over to the table and Natalie pushed me away, "stay with her." I nodded and walked away, following with Joe.
I never believed in that, 'love at first sight' shit. But that little girl, drew me in. It was just like I described to Josh when Max was born, how I thought it would feel. Like a weight off my shoulder, my world right there.
I walked up wiping my tears away.
"Hi peanut." I put my finger in her hand and she gripped tightly.
The nurse pricked her foot which made her cry more. Then weighed her, she didn't like the cold scale, and then diapered her, did her foot prints, she really just didn't like this nurse.
She swaddled her up, and slipped a hat on her tiny head.
"Here you go dad." She smiled lifting her, and handing her to me.
"Hi peanut." I laughed through my tears and turned to Joe. "Congrats man. Fuck!" he wiped his own tears. I walked over to Natalie, dropped back down onto the stool.
"Look Nat!" I was excited to show off this little girl, "she looks like me a little!"
Natalie laughed and wiped her tears, "let me have her."
The nurse helped me shift the baby on her chest.
"Hi peanut, you stopped crying as soon as daddy got you, you love him already huh?"
She lifted her hat, "look at all that hair!" She looked up at me and I laughed and nodded leaning down I kissed Natalie's head.
She cracked her eyes open a little and looked at me. It made my heart beat fast.
"Who is that guy?" Natalie whispered. "Is that the guy that was always talking to you peanut?"
And then she was staring at Natalie.
She was everything I wanted and needed.
They closed Natalie up and then took us to a recovery room.
She was so quiet.
She was a champ at eating, latched right on and ate.
Currently I was walking around doing skin to skin with her. Natalie was taking a Snapchat.
The first of many.
I moved and sat down next to Natalie
It was a video, me walking back and fourth, rocking a little, you couldn't see her face.
Captioned,
"9 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, and 17 and a half hours later"I kissed Natalie's head as she posted it.
We were basking in the quiet baby. She would whine if she was hungry. But was quiet other than that.
Joe sent me a few of the pictures. He was sitting on the couch editing.
I didn't wanna be those people that left everyone hanging for 2 weeks.
I picked up my camera.
"Baby girl is fast asleep." I stood up and moved to Natalie.
"She's the best ever." Natalie smiled.
"Natalie was like super women, it was amazing." I looked down at her, "you did so amazing baby."
She blushed and I kissed her.
"I guess we should tell you the name." I laughed.
I turned the camera to her and she stretched and yawned.
"Big yawn peanut." Natalie mumbled.
I handed Joe the camera.
"David is very picky."
She shifted the baby and Joe sat opposite of me.
"But after much deliberation,"
I grabbed the camera.
Natalie looked up at me, "her name is Ariella, which in Hebrew, means lion of god, and her middle name is Noel."
"Ariella Noel Dobrik." I smiled.
"But she will be called Aria, or Peanut of course." Natalie rolled her eyes jokingly.
"And of course go follow her on Instagram." I laughed, "@ AriellaDobrik"
"Of course." Joe teased.
Later that night I posted a picture, without her face.
Had to save something for the vlog.
