Valkyrie walked into her dorm room to see Carol absorbed in her own world. She had her earphones in and was humming along to a tune with her eyes closed and a smile across her face. Valkyrie smiled too, finding her happiness contagious. God she's cute when she does that.

Carol's eyes snapped open and for a moment Valkyrie feared she'd said that out loud but she continued to humm to her music.

Valkyrie mouthed "What are you listening to?" Carol took an earphone out and gestures her over. Valkyrie sat against the wall on Carol's bed next to her and took the earphone. As she leaned in their cheeks brushed slightly. The both jerked back feeling like they'd just had an electric shock.

"She's called Hayley Kiyoko." Carol said as she restarted the song. Valkyrie listened carefully to the catchy tune and smiled at the words. She could see why Carol liked the music. Hayley was an amazing singer and the song was very gay. Valkyrie loved it.

"Tell me you can feel it too." They both froze at that line, unaware of the others reaction and thoughts. Carol had completely forgotten about that line. Shit! Is she gonna read into this. I should of played another song. In her head she was face palming herself repeatedly.

Once the song had stopped Valkyrie took the earphone out and gave it back to Carol.

"She's really good." Valkyrie said.

"She is the one and only Lesbian Jesus." Valkyrie laughed in response. Carol could tell she was in a good mood. So was she.

"He said they told him they still have my portfolio and they'll send it over this week." Carol explained.

"See lightweight, I told you it would be fine." Valkyrie smiled confidently.

"You did. Thank you." Carol said looking at Valkyrie. They locked eyes for a moment untill Valkyrie glanced past Carol's shoulder as a blur approached them.

"Move!" Valkyrie shouted. Carol froze but Valkyrie grabbed her arms and stepped side ways with her. A football whizzed past Carol followed by someone running after it.

They both realised at the same moment that their faces were inches apart. Everything around them was irrelevant. All Carol could focus on was Valkyrie's face. Her lips. She could feel Valkyrie doing the same but didn't dare look up.

"That was close." Valkyrie muttered.

"We are. Er! It are. I mean it was." Carol stepped back when she felt the heat rising to her face. I ruined it! Why do I always have to ruin it! "I have to go." Carol said suddenly and turned away before Valkyrie could stop her.

"Wait, Carol!" She called but it was clear she was ignoring Valkyrie. She speedwalked away, close to breaking into a run. Dammit! Why did I say anything! She screamed internally.

Em leaned against a tree, watching the interaction play out. For a moment she was sure they would kiss. They looked lost in each other's eyes, like something out of a romance movie. But Carol stepped back quickly. She walked away hurriedly and looked upset.

Em assumed they wouldn't be having lunch together that day. Maybe Carol needs a shoulder to lean on. A smirk appeared on her lips. She started to follow Carol before she disappeared. Maybe she needs a distraction.
