Valkyrie's room was bigger than their dorm and twice as animated. Carol had no idea what colour the room was painted because there wasn't an inch of the wall left uncovered.
Just like the dorm there were posters of music groups and american footballers, but in her room there was so much more about her. Pictures of her family were scattered around the room. Postcards and a couple of posters from tv shows.
"Dork." Carol accused as she saw an anime poster.
"Am not! You are." Valkyrie said defensively.
"Yeah, I am." Carol admitted proudly as she continued to look at the posters.
"I just like how you can get absorbed in someone else's life and problems to distract you from your own." Carol nodded understandably.
"I think that's the point." She said.
"So you wanna be in the air force do you?" Carol turned to Valkyrie who had a smile on her face. She was sat on her double bed with her legs out infront of her. She patted the space next to her and Carol wondered over.
"Wanted." She corrected. As she sat on the bed next to Valkyrie and copied her posture.
"What changed?"
"I honestly don't know. At some point I decided I wanted to travel, I still do, and I think it would just be harder to do with a job like that. I'll probably do something arty when I'm older." Carol said, not sounding too persuaded by herself.
"What about you? Do you wanna stay in this country forever?"
"Nope. I'm gonna go to Europe, maybe England. They have American football teams there. I'll try join one of them and gradually climb the ranks."
"What about the NFL?"
"That will be after. I want to practise playing professionally before I get somewhere that high. Once woman play there professionally I'll come back. Or I'll pave the way like you said." She smiled, remembering her words. "Or maybe it will all change. Maybe I'll travel too." The met each other's eyes, neither wanting to look away. The pair appreciated the support they recieved from each other. It was more than they'd ever received from anyone else.
Valkyrie's mum loved her and she wanted the best for her daughter but she knew football wasn't something she was keen on her doing.
Carol wasn't even sure how her parents felt about her anymore. They hadn't disowned her but she definetly wasn't wanted at her home.
"Valkyrie! Where's Carol sleeping tonight?" Her mum called from the landing.
"She said she's fine with Caesar's kennel!" Valkyrie shouted back. Carol gave her a light shove and rolled her eyes as she smiled.
"Valkyrie, that's no way to treat a woman!" The pair collapsed into each other in a fit of laughing for a couple of minutes before getting it together to try to figure something out.
"You can sleep in my bed. We can heads and tails it if you prefer. Or I could sleep downstairs, it's fine." Valkyrie started babbling until Carol stopped her.
"I don't mind." She said smiling. "Besides, it's not like we haven't slept together before." She smirked.
"She'll sleep up here!" Valkyrie called down. There was a brief moment of silence before her mum responded.
"Alright, but no funny business. Not while Aiden and I are in the house."
"Mum!" Valkyrie yelled. Her cheeks turned a light pink and Carol had to bite her lip to stiffle a laugh. Valkyrie noticed and tried to look away from her lips but she was drawn to them so easily.
Carol looked up from her lap before Valkyrie looked away but luckily her attention was caught by one of her posters.
"What's that one?" She asked, pointing at a poster. In the middle was a bald guy in a yellow jumpsuit. He had red gloves and a white cape. Around him were a variety of unique characters that made your eyes dart around the poster. The title had been covered by other bits of paper.
"One punch man. It's about a guy who's a hero for fun. He takes down all his enemies with one punch and is looking for a challenge. It's a funny anime." Carol seemed interested by the show. " We can watch it if you want."
"Sure, dork."
