"OK...OK" Carol says between laughs. "So he wouldn't take a hint."

"Nope."

"What did you do?" Carol asked turning on her side to face Valkyrie.

"Well after I got changed and left the changing rooms he was still there, waiting!" Valkyrie exclaimed.

"Perv."

"Exactly. He was really pissing me off. So I punched him. I knocked his tooth out and I was suspended."

"You were suspended?"

"Yep."

"That's bullshit." Carol stated as she turned to lay on her back again. They fell silent for a moment, both staring at the pale ceiling above their seperate beds. Carol bit her tongue nervously before saying what she was thinking.

"Any girls ever do that kind of thing?" Even though she's staring at the ceiling, Carol could tell Valkyrie was smiling.

"How did you know?" She gasped sarcastically.

"Your collection on the wall over there doesn't exactly scream straight, and there's the flag."

"Guys can be douchbags." Valkyrie said simply. "But girls... they are the spawn of the devil."

I'm gonna take that as a yes. Carol thought.

"I have to go to football practise." Valkyrie said suddenly getting up from her bed. "So what about you? What's your deal?"

"What?" Carol said sounding alarmed. She sat up on her bed to watch Valkyrie pack her duffel bag.

"Are you gay or just an art student?"

"Wha- um...I..." Carol stammered, taken aback by Valkyrie's words.

"OK, cool. See you then." She said with a smirk as she started to leave the room. Carol stood awkwardly not knowing what to say. "For the record, you set my gaydar off the moment I saw you." Neither said another word as Valkyrie left the room. Carol was stunned into silence, not knowing how to react.

Busted.

Carol lay on the floor in her dorm room catching up on the lessons she'd missed between leaving her old college and arriving at her new one. She didn't mind putting in the extra effort to catch up, but there was a lot of others things she'd rather be doing.

She tried not to let her mind wander but Valkyrie's words kept echoing around her mind. Is it really that obvious. She thought. Carol usually didn't care what people thought of her but since she came out to her parents she had been more on edge about it.

Carol snapped out of her thoughts when she heard muffled voices outside. There was two. One was clearly Valkyrie but the other wasn't familiar. It was a guy. An older guy. Does she have a boyfriend?

As soon as Carol asked herself this the door swung open, soon followed by Valkyrie's bag flying across the room.

"Trust me, you would still be bitter if you knew the whole story." Valkyrie said sounding frustrated.

"But I don't and you won't tell me." The older guy said following her into the room.

Carol got off the floor and gathered her books into her arm.

"Good practise?" Carol asked.

"Yeah thanks. Oh this is Thor. He's a friend."

"Hey." Carol said still clutching her books.

"You must be Carol. Valkyrie speaks fondly if you." Thor said. Valkyrie spun around and threw her football shoe at him. He caught it with a guilty grin. "Is that why you were so distracted today?" Thor said.

"No! I told you why, and I played great today." Carol smiled at Valkyrie's confidence and sat down on her bed to continue reading.

"Your throws say otherwise. Mine however, were amazing." Thor said proudly.

"Wow. You guys should go against each other some time." Carol said, not looking up from her book.

"To see who's better at football?" Valkyrie asked.

"To see who has the bigger ego." Valkyrie looked taken aback by her words like Carol had earlier. Thor was the one started smiling.

"I like this one."
