Lloyd followed the voice through the woods for a long time.
Turns out the owner of the voice was much further away than expected.
The yelling grew closer and Lloyd arrived at his destination.
He hid behind a berry bush and peeked around the corner.
In front of him he saw an Olgron who'd set up camp.
Olgrons are nasty creatures who kind of resemble humans in intelligence and looks, but are much taller, have grey skin, fur in some places and very sharp teeth.
There was only one Olgron, he'd set up a shelter and was cooking some meat above a fire.

A fire?
How on earth did the creature acquire the secret to creating fire?
It didn't appear to have any flame rocks near to light it.
The only things who have the knowledge to create fire from nothing are flame spirits and fire Kaladins.

And that was when Lloyd spotted him.

Beside the Olgron sat a lantern wich trapped a small figure who's voice had somehow traveled miles to where Lloyd had been.
The figure looked like a drained fire Kaladin!
When a Kaladin gets drained some types revert into a harmless form in wich they wait and collect enough strength to turn back into their human form again.
However it looks like this Kaladin had been trapped when he turned into his weakened state, unable to defend himself from his captor.
Kaladins are valuable and so is everything that produces light.
The Olgron will most likely keep him in that lantern forever or sell him to the highest bidder.
Either way, it doesn't look good for the guy.

'I can't just leave him there!' Lloyd thinks determined.
He sneaks a bit closer to the camp and spots a soul root.
'A soul root huh.'
The plan starts forming in Lloyd's head and he moves over to the root and takes off his right glove.
Soul roots are connected to a soul tree, a soul tree is a plant that captures souls and grows from them.
These roots belong to a mere sapling wich can't take the soul of anything bigger than a mouse yet, but if Lloyd uses his powers to make the sapling grow it could become big enough to at least stall something as large as an Olgron.

This could work.

Lloyd's right hand hovered over the root and he channeled his energy into the soul sapling making it grow larger and stronger.
He continued, the flame Kaladin hadn't stopped yelling and Lloyd hoped he wouldn't so the Olgron wouldn't hear the tree expanding and growing.
The soul tree was now big enough to capture a horse.
He lifted his hand and quickly scooted away from the root.
The root sensed his soul and moved towards him, but Lloyd used his energy again to urge the root towards the Olgron.
And the root moved away, towards the creature's ankle.

The Olgron only noticed the root when it was too late.
It let out a cry of surprise as the root firmly gripped it's ankle and snaked up it's leg.
More roots grabbed it's arms and the Olgron was dragged towards the Soul tree.
That was the moment Lloyd sprinted towards the lantern wich had been left unattended.
He snatched it and ran off as the Olgron snarled at him and clawed at the roots.
Lloyd moved experienced and fast through the forest clutching the lantern in his arms.
A few yards away however the Olgron howled and freed himself.
The creature was furious and grabbed it's sword, storming after the light the lantern emitted in Lloyd's arms.

'Shit.'
It had escaped quicker than Lloyd had expected.
He grabbed his grappling hook, swung himself up into a tree and climbed higher and higher.
The creature growled up at him and grabbed onto the bark, intending to climb as well.
Lloyd swung over to the next tree and the one after that, moving away from the Olgron.
Once he couldn't see it anymore he hid between the leaves and shrugged of his coat, throwing it over the lantern so the light wouldn't give them away.
He heard the creature move away and let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
When he was sure the Olgron had left Lloyd lifted up his jacket to look at the person inside the lantern.
