That sly little fox
Lloyd glares at the puppy, currently curled up in Kai's arms.
The Border collie happily yips up at his new friend and starts to lick Kai's face.

A few days ago there'd been an incident, which the ninjas had solved quickly, but afterwards the police discovered a small puppy at the scene.
It didn't have a collar or a chip so in the heat of the moment Kai, who'd been smitten with the furball from the beginning, immediately volunteered to foster the dog until it was old enough to be adopted.

Which was why currently, the bounty was littered with dog toys and treats.
"Aww, you adorable little goof." Kai affectionately states as his face gets licked by the dog as if it were a lollipop.
Lloyd, visibly disgusted by this, rushes out of the room.

It's only been a few days, but the tiny gremlin already had the entire team wrapped around his fluffy and demanding paws.
A few barks, and voila!
There come Zane and Cole rushing in with treats.
A little whine, and Nya, Kai and Jay come running, ready to play.
Even master Wu wasn't immune, Lloyd has seen his Sensei give affectionate belly rubs to the pup whenever it decides to bother him.

Lloyd closes his door and huffs.
First the tiny devil had won everyone over with his naive and trusting eyes and now he was taking up all their attention.
The past days he'd barely been able to have a moment of peace with Kai without the little monster interrupting-

Oh no

Oh no no no no NO!

I'm not jealous of a dog!
That's absurd!
There is no way I'm letting, a small puppy of all things, get to me!
No way!
No freaking way-

Lloyd is startled from his thoughts by some little scratches at his door.

Wait what-

Lloyd moves across the room, opens the door and lo and behold it was the Border collie he'd been freaking out about.
Lloyd scowls down at the pup and moves to close the door.
But the little monster swiftly darts into his room before it's completely shut.

"Hey no!"

Lloyd exclaims as the dog excitedly bounces around in his room, knocking over several of his plants.

"Stop!"

He yells as he finally manages to snatch up the hyperactive pup.
Lloyd holds the tiny devil up to his face and reprimands it.
In return the pup just happily yelps and wags his tail.
Lloyd rolls his eyes and plops him on his bed.

"Do not move."

He glares at the pup as he cleans up the mess.
And surprisingly, the little guy stays still in his spot.
Lloyd turns around after he's put all his plants back safely in place and goes to open his door again.
He gestures to his guest.

"Alright off you go again."

But the pup doesn't move.

"Come on, go annoy someone else."

It's tiny paws firmly grab Lloyd's blanket.

"Seriously, they're probably worried out of their minds because they haven't heard you yapping for several minutes. Go and play with them. I don't want you here."

Finally the pup moves, but not towards the door.
No he moves towards him and before Lloyd can react, the dog jumps into his arms.
Startled Lloyd looks down at the ball of joy yipping in his arms and he sighs.

Damn.
Looks like even I am not immune to this little monster.

~That night~

"Come on puppy why won't you cuddle with me?"
Jay sadly exclaims.
The ninja were having another late night movie marathon and the collie had joined them.
But to everyone's surprise, the pup went and cuddled up to Lloyd.
The person who'd been treating the pup like an evil safety hazard!
All of the ninja had tried to get some puppy love for themselves, but the little guy refused to leave Lloyd's warm embrace and gentle pats.
Kai glares at the both of them.
Usually he was lucky, because if the puppy was with someone else he'd be able to cuddle with Lloyd and vice versa.
But now, Lloyd was so occupied with the puppy that he wasn't even able to give Kai as much as a second glance.
That dog was possessive!

Lloyd smirked internally, because he wasn't watching the movie at all, instead he'd been looking over at his boyfriend, who was getting more and more agitated because of the lack of attention Lloyd was giving him.
He gently strokes the pup's soft fur and the little guy happily presses himself against his chest.
Lloyd snickers as he watches Kai cross his arms and eye the dog jealously.

That's right, suffer like I did.
Because I'm not putting this puppy down for the rest of the night.
