A (mostly) lighthearted rant book by me. Join me in reveling and reviling every terrible cliche and odd writing cliche known to wattpad.
This book may include rants about:
-wattpad
-cliches
-bad characters
-bad stories

On one hand, a good fan fiction is like crack cocaine to the system. It's impossible to give that shit up. That's how I end up in the middle of math class reading a kinda smutty crack fix about my OTP. Is it risky? Absolutely. But I just can't bring myself to stop.

Not to mention, it's a great way for young authors to flex their writing muscles to beef up their skill. As the age old adage goes: "practice makes perfect." And using a preset world with established characters can allow a person to focus solely on their prose.
So fanfic's get an A+ from me in that regard. Yay.
...On the other hand... a whole lot of it is hot garbage.
Again, it's good that young, potential writers are able to perfect their craft. But the amateur writers can produce some not so great content.
Every time I click on a fanfic, hoping for an epic reimagining of my favorite characters and stories and am presented with a load of unintelligible, OOC, poorly written garbage, I die inside. Just a little. Like my soul is withering away.

You can usually tell who's putting effort into their work and who's not. Example-
An amateur writer trying: "Harry Potter stared at they're face and laughed."
An amateur writer not trying: "Perce Jackson was totes hot😝😘 if it weren't for dum whoer 👿💀Anabeth😷🤮 I would totally do him🤐🤧🤪😝"

(The use of emojis in stories is something we'll get to on a different chapter, 'cause that shit... whew, that nonsense get on all of my nerves)
I could list a bunch of critiques about how to make your fanfics quality (maybe another day) but for now I'll just say this:
I generally like fan fiction, but some of it is unreadable. And that's just the gist of it.
