(K, before we start I just want everyone reading this to know how amazing @Naey_Mie_chan is. Like seriously, this drawing is so beautiful I can't even right now- This person drew such beautiful art for the story! Like seriously, so good.)
You were dreaming.
...
You were giggling happily, skipping along the park's pathway in that adorable frilly pink dress with the picture of Dora The Explorer whom you loved so much on the front. You were gripping your parents' hands tightly, your heavily pregnant mother was struggling to keep up with you, the energetic, sweet child.
"Papa, Papa! Can I name her? Please?" You begged, eyes wide with happiness, a giant smile on your face.
You couldn't remember what he looked like on that day, but you imagined he'd have been smiling.
"Of course you can, Y/N. It's clear you'll probably name her anyway, even if we said no," He chuckled.
Mama smiled fondly, "Well, I have no problems with this. What do you want to name her, Y/N?"
You gasped in happiness, then your face pouted, placing a finger on your chin as you thought hard over this. "Mmmm," You hummed.
Papa chuckled again, resting his hand on the top of your h/c hair.
"You're so cute when you make that expression, my cute girl," His comment filled your chest with butterflies, and your face warm with happiness. A name popped into your head.
"Mia!" You exclaimed, eyes alight. You turned your head back and forth to see your parents' expressions.
Mama smiled, "What made you think of the name?"
"Because!" You started, "I think I heard that it means 'mine' somewhere before. If I name her mine, she'll be mine forever! She'll be my cute little sister forever and ever and ever!" You threw your arms in the air in delight.
Papa smiled warmly, "Well aren't you smart? It suits her perfectly," He lifted his hand from your head and rested it gently on Mama's stomach, "Don't you think, Mia?"
Your smile widened, and Mama winced. "I think Mia likes that name. She's kicking in joy right now."
You giggled, "Yay! She'll be my little sister forever!"
Papa snorted, "It's impossible for her not to be your little sister, don't you think?"
...
You opened your eyes, a soft smile on your face from the dream. It wasn't often you had flashbacks when you slept, and certainly not ones from so far back. That was around eight years ago, wasn't it...?
You were so lucky to have Mia. You remembered the first year of your sister being alive to be the best year of your life. Her second-year would have been great too if that didn't happen.
You shook away the thought. You wondered how your family was right now. Did they miss you? Was Mia lonely? Was Mia being picked on again without you there to defend her?
You closed your eyes. It was best not to think about that. You didn't want to get depressed today. Besides, you'd made two new friends for you to cherish, and wasn't Fuli going to teach you how to hunt for yourself today? It sounded like a lot of fun. You decided to lie there in the sinkhole a little longer. The sky was still blood-red from the dawn, though traces of blue were creeping in. You could wait a little longer to get up.
