You let out a mental sigh of relief as Fuli slowed down to a prance. Her head was held high, her chest puffed out and a smug grin upon her face. She'd vanquished the tension between you and Kion, which you deemed a good thing. You could tell that Fuli was quite tired, however much she tried to hide it. Cheetahs pretty much had anime-type speed, but the price of being able to run up to around 60 kilometres an hour was extreme exhaustion. You noticed Fuli's shoulders had started slumping, her prance becoming sloppier, and her breathing becoming heavy.
"You see?" She said breathily, "I told you I'd win. I always win."
Kion smiled, "Fast as ever, Fuli."
"Mhm!" You chimed in, "Faster than any other cheetah I've seen."
Fuli raised her eyes towards the sky, "The egg-head is back. He's a bit faster today."
You followed her gaze to see the form of Ono, judging from his posture he looked tired. A few moments later, Ono landed roughly, then slumped on the ground in exhaustion.
"You...you win again, Fuli." He muttered in defeat, drawing in huge gasps of air.
"You did great anyway Ono," Kion said giving him a You-Tried-Your-Best smile.
Ono groaned only looking more defeated, "Thanks Kion..."
Fuli seemed to have snapped out of exhaustion almost immediately because now she was bouncing impatiently on her toes. "Guys, we should go do our guard duties! Who knows what kind of trouble is being stirred up?"
You eyed the ground awkwardly.
Kion groaned, "Who would be getting into trouble this early in the morning? Can't I just go back to sleep?"
Fuli sighed, "Seriously?! You're the guard leader and you can't even do as much as getting up early?"
For this one, you agreed with Kion. Who in their right mind likes getting up at 6 in the morning and surveying the area?
Ono had picked himself up from the ground, "It would be a good idea to patrol the Pridelands for trouble. For all we know, Janja might be using the fact that nobody is awake to his advantage; Beshte and Bunga can join us later."
"That is a very good point, Ono. Right, Kion?" Prompted Fuli.
Kion sighed, "Alright, alright. We'll patrol the Pridelands. Let me go back to sleep later though, please."
Ono had taken off and Kion followed behind him. Fuli was about to leave when she remembered you.
"Oh, sorry Y/N. I'll have to leave you for a while."
You gave her a smile, "Hakuna Matata, I think I'll just go back to sleep."
Fuli grinned, "Alright, great. I'll see you later then."
Fuli then sped off (which was probably only fast-walking to her but would equal you sprinting) after Ono and Kion. You wouldn't lie to yourself; you kind of felt left out. It was okay though, considering you weren't and never would be part of the guard. It was okay for you to feel left out; you'd felt like that a lot anyway. You were used to it.
You stood there watching the three disappear into the horizon. The sky had slowly started turning from crimson to light shades of blue, casting a hazy glow over the Pridelands.
You didn't want to go back to sleep anymore, but you didn't know what else to do, really. It wasn't like you could get out your phone and scroll through anime and cat memes while you waited until it was time to be forced to go to school.
