Simon pov
I watch as David comes out of the house, shrugging on his coat.
Throwing my unfinished cigarette on the ground and stepping on it I wave to catch his attention.
"Fancy a walk?" I ask.
He nods.
We walk to the beach and decide to sit on a bench.
I stare out at the sea.
We sit in silence for a long time.
I open my mouth, unsure whether to tell him or not.
"I like you"
There. I said it.
I feel him tense beside me.
He looks unseeingly at the water, fidgeting.
"I.."
He sighs and closes his eyes. I don't dare look at him.
"I.. I used to like you.."
My heart drops.
I swallow.
"Okay"
We sit.
He stands up as he is about to leave. "Goodnight Si.."
I don't reply.
He looks at me, sighs softly and leaves.
I keep sitting.
I was too late..
