'So you are probably wondering why we have decided to partner all of you up,' Christian smugly remarks. 'Well, you are all going to be competing in the talent show in your pairings therefore you will be creating a routine together to showcase for your final grades. Good luck!' He gives the room two thumbs up and just walks out of the room.
What the actual hell? This place is really not holding back. Everyone stands up and starts filing out of the room with their partners. 'Do you want to come back to my room and talk about this talent show routine thing?' I ask him whilst picking up my bag. His distinctive blue eyes look around the room. 'Sure.'
This is so awkward, how are you expected to put together a dance routine with someone you don't even know? I have to admit that is a pretty clever move on their part, thrusting teenagers into the unknown. I suppose that is what high school is all about, preparing you for every situation possible but how likely is this scenario? I put my keys in the front door and I realise I haven't even spoken to George on the way here. What an introduction to your new dance partner.
I gesture for him to go inside and he perches on the edge of my bed, slightly bemused. I put my bag down and throw myself onto the bed next to him, crossing my legs with a notebook from underneath my bed. 'So George have you got any ideas for this dance routine?' I inquire and he bursts out laughing, I join in for a while. 'Really? You don't speak the entire journey here and you expect me to have come up with a Charleston routine.'
'You have had enough time to think about it.' I cheekily respond with a laugh. He shakes his head 'True but I want to get to know you, my other half you could call it.' I chuckle again, you know what this guy is awkward but I like it. 'Well what would you like to know?' I smile at him and put my notebook down. 'I want to know what makes you who you are so tell me, what is your favorite alcoholic beverage?'
'Good question, I think it has to be a vodka and coke with lime. How about you?'
'I love a good glass of champagne, as long as its the proper stuff from France. Not the fake one you can get from a supermarket.'
'Nice can I ask you something?'
'Everyone around here seems very luxurious and wealthy. What is up with that?'
'Where to start? The school is award winning and the houses here look like out of a fairy tale. The Designer Outlet is also a factor...'
'What is The Designer Outlet?' I interrupt his long tangent, he seems quite integrated in this place. 'Really? The Designer Outlet is where you can buy all of the clothes that get made here.'
'Right, that makes sense now I think about it.' Of course that is what it would be, what were you thinking you idiot? After talking for a bit longer, Sam walks in and sits down on the bed. 'Oh hi Evelyn and George.'
