Claire smiled, happy for her best friend, when she saw the text Talia had sent her.
"Can we have a girls sleepover tonight? I have news I can't wait to tell you and the girls when I get back from my date ;)" the text read.
Claire quickly responded with yes and then texted the girls groupchat to invite all of them over. It was obviously short notice, seeing that it was nearing eleven pm, but to Claire's surprise, all the girls came over rather quickly.
If she was honest, Claire was disappointed that Talia was telling news to all the girls together and not her first. In the back of her mind, Claire knew that it was petty to feel like Talia should tell her everything first just because they're best friends, so Claire pushed the feeling aside.
Claire frowned when she realized that if all the girls were coming over, she wouldn't have time to talk to Talia alone. Talia promised they would talk when she got home but now it seems like it would have to wait. Claire pushed this feeling aside too, she should be happy for her best friend, right?
Christina was the first to arrive at the apartment. She greeted Claire with an excited hug, one that Claire gladly accepted.
The two girls sat on the couch and started talking as they waited for everyone else. Christina was so outgoing and friendly that it gave Claire an oddly trusting feeling. She began to open up to Christina, sharing things that little people knew about her. Within a half hour, Claire and Christina had become close friends.
"Something else on your mind?" Christina asked after sharing a funny story about one of her and Corbyn's dates in New York City.
"It's nothing. Your story about you and Corbyn just reminded me of something. That's all," Claire said, quickly lifting the sudden sad look on her face into a happy one.
"Something? Or someone?" Christina asked, catching Claire's fake happy expression.
Claire sighed. She debated for a moment whether to tell Christina about her relationship problems with her boyfriend, Jay, or not. Talia didn't even know yet since Claire had planned to tell her after her date. Talia was her best friend, should she really tell Christina, someone she's only know for two days, first? Then again, Talia hasn't been available at all and Christina was right in front of her, ready to listen. Even though Claire understood why Talia wouldn't be able to keep her promise, the disappointment was still in the back of her mind. So Claire's mind went to how hurt she was earlier and decided to tell Christina first.
