We ended up in Florida a few hours later. Somehow, I was able to detect a dot in the distance so small it looked as if a an ant would be cramped on it. The others couldn't even see it, but I did.
"Rain, clouds?" I asked. Rain nodded and lifted us up, almost without grunting. All of us were getting stronger. Soon, we were zooming towards where I pointed. The ship had to be a good fifty miles away. Yes, fifty. My vision, not only mentally, had apparently gotten better also. I closed my eyes, still trying to see anything about Zip. Everything I saw had nothing to do with Zip. I saw us eating a lunch of fish, which we cooked with Rain's lightning. Then later we would fly toward the ship . . . Then blackness.
"Owl, I need you to convince some fish to come to the surface. I'm starving," I said. Then to Rain, I whispered, "Soon as you seem 'em, lightning strikes go down."
Rain nodded and looked down, having Ivy control seaweed to carry us then. It was wet, and soaked my pants. But hunger, and Zip, were my only worries. The first fish swam up, their huge eyes glowing. Rain gathered a tiny bolt in her hand and sent it the the first three fish. The wonderful smell reached my nose, and I inhaled, sighing. Ivy lowered the seaweed so we were practically swimming. Shadow reached down and snatched the fish. Two more fish came, and were zapped. We ate in silence, Owl grimacing at every bite. But he knew that his life was more important than his likings.
Ivy drove for a while, and then Rain took over again. The ship was now in view. I was able to see its details, but the others could just see it.
Half an hour later, the cloud carried us directly over the ship. I peered over, motioning for the others to do the same. We all looked, but no Black Jackets, or Zips, were in sight. I was smarter than to let them hide from me, but I was useless. My visions were stupid, pathetic.
"Shadow, go down there," I whispered. He nodded and shadowed, dropping down. He slunk around and motioned for us that it was safe after a few minutes. The cloud dissolved and dropped us. We landed with a thud, and immediately Black Jackets swarmed. I gasped as they threw ropes around us. We were all too stunned to act, and soon were tied to the mast. Our hands were bound, and our feet. With metal chains that dug into our skin.
Then they dragged a very beaten up looking Zip out of a room. She was unconscious, but soon stirred and tried to scream. Unable from the tape on her mouth. They taped us, too.
But I realized only five of us tied up. Shadow stood, his arms crossed, a guilty look on his face, in front of me. The Black Jacket Boss that almost killed him, grinning, set a hand on his shoulder. Like a dad proud of his son.
"Bookie, this was bound to happen. I- they told me things you can't imagine."
"And those things are true, son," the Boss said.
I screamed through the tape. It was muffled, but decipherable.
"Betrayer!"
