My eyes slowly open as I hear cries besides me. I immediately shoot up, thinking the grounders have attacked us. But then I realise it's a sleeping Charlotte next to me. I shake her, trying to wake her up.
"Hey, wake up. It's okay. It's okay. It's just a dream Charlotte. It's okay to be scared. Do you want to talk about it?"
Charlotte sits up, tears in her eyes. "It's my parents. They were floated and...I see it in my dreams." She moans, a tear streams down her soft red checks. I sigh, feeling sorry for her.
"I understand. My mum was floated too. Hey, you see that star up there?" I ask, pointing to a bright sky in the dark night sky.
She nods, looking up. "That's The Ark orbiting above us. I think whatever happened up there, you know, the pain... maybe we can move past that now. Maybe being on the ground is our second chance." I say, looking down at her.
"Do you really believe that?" She asks me, still looking at the stars. I sigh and look up as well. "I'm trying to."
"Try to get some more sleep, okay?" I tell the girl and she nods slowly before lying back down.

Charlotte and I had started getting closer, and I began to see her as more as a little sister than a friend. I helped the girl build her tent, and offered to stay with her if she ever got nightmares. And I had also had Wells help me build my own. He was better at that than me.
But other than that, nothing much had happened. The grounders hadn't attacked again, even though I feared they would have, especially when Bellamy and his men went hunting. Though I wouldn't really mind if they killed him. I'd probably go and thank the grounders for doing it for me.
I begin to walk to the drop ship, to check on Clarke's progress on Jasper, though I don't suppose it's going as well as I hoped, judging by the screams I can hear erupting as we speak. As I approach the ship, I spot Bellamy, Murphy and a few others stood a few feet from camp, throwing knives and axe's they acquired from the drop ship. I was one of the unlucky few who didn't get a knife, so I let me eyes wander in their direction, jealously. That is until I watch Murphy throw his knife, hitting the tree and falling to the ground, there's nothing to be jealous of at all there. All of sudden, someone's eye's meet mine, and i immediately drop my gaze, quickening my pace ahead.
"Hey, Matthews!" Bellamy Blake calls, jogging ahead of me and stopping me in my place. I glare at him the moment he does, and scold my mind for thinking he looks good. "You've got a lot of fire in you, don't you?" He smirks and I wonder where this is going.
"What do you want dick?"
"Think you can put that fire to good use?" He questions and extends his open palm with a knife. I look down at it, hungrily. I then look back at him.
"Why the hell would I agree to do anything that means I have to spend more time with you?" I fake smile at him, only his smirk widens. It's as if every time I'm rude to him he enjoys it, which just makes me even angrier.
"Simple. You get this into the tree, you keep it." He proposes, and I look back down at the knife. With grounders around and idiots like John Murphy in camp, this could come in handy. Especially if Bellamy one day decides I'm next on his wrist band cutting list. But then it begs the question - why would he offer to give me a weapon after I threatened to kill him?
"So I threaten to kill you and you give me a knife?" I question, brows raised and he shrugs, taking a step closer to me.
"I know you're not gonna kill me." He says way too confidently.
