Astrid's pov

I opened my eyes to the sunrise.

"Argh! I forgot to close my curtains!" I groaned, sloughing my covers off.

I rose out of my bed and padded into the bathroom. I dragged a brush through my hair and got dressed. I walked back into my room and looked at the clock.

"6:07 in the morning? You gotta be kidding me!" I groaned loudly.

My door was opened.

"Are you alright, Älskling?" Dad asked.

I nodded. "I hate being woken up early, but I forgot my curtains," I said, jerking my thumb at the open window.

He nodded. "Come sit with me until breakfast?" He asked.

I nodded.

We walked out and sat together.

"Aside from being woken early, how'd you sleep?" He asked.

"Good, actually. I usually have nightmares about my family getting hurt."

He frowned and rubbed my back. "I'm sorry. Have I caused any?"

I pursed my lips. "I had one right after you came. You killed them, but I'd never seen you at that point."

I was enveloped in a hug.

"I'm so sorry. Maybe you saw me on the news or the internet?" He suggested.

"No, I was kept away from anything about you. I guess I know why now." I said, chuckling humorlessly at the end.

He smiled slightly, much to my surprise. "Well, you've got me now, and I'm now going anywhere." He said.

I smiled and Tony walked out.

"COME ON! I never get to wake you up!" He complained again.

I laughed. Some things never change.

I stood up.

"Let's get some food in you, then I gotta drop you at school, Fury needs to talk about last week." He said.

I nodded. "If there's any suspecting me, feel free to remind him Astrid got hurt as well."

Tony nodded and slapped some waffles in the toaster.

"Want some, Reindeer Games?" Dad nodded.

I got up and sat at the breakfast bar.

"How'd you sleep, kiddo?"

I shrugged. "Good, right up until the sun woke me up.

He nodded. "My alarm woke me up," Tony said as dad sat down. He put the syrup on the counter.

"Enjoy. I gotta go get dressed." I nodded.

"Astrid, what's this stuff?" Dad asked.

"Syrup, it's sweet and goes on top of the waffles," I said, smothering them in it.

"Will it make you hyper?" He asked, eye-widening.

"Maybe, but we deserve it after this week."

He shook his head. "Your poor teachers."

I laughed. "Naw, I'll be good, I promise."

He nodded. "Sure." He said.

He poured a conservative amount on his waffles and began eating.

I shoved half a waffle in my mouth.

"Astrid! You're going to choke!" He groaned.

I cackled and... choked.
