The room sat in stifling silence once more as Odin didn't move. Everyone was waiting for something to snap.
And snap, it did as Pepper walked in.
"I'm here to take out the trash." She said, smiling as usual.
"I'm taking the gi..."
"No." He looked shocked.
"I beg your pardon?" Odin asked.
"Then beg. You're trespassing on Stark property and have overstayed your non-existent welcome. Goodbye."
He looked stunned, and pride welled in my chest. He turned and stormed out of the room and out onto the hele-pad. The Bifrost "robbed" us of his company.
Dad got rid of the dagger and hugged me tightly.
"Thank you, m'lady." He said, looking at Pepper.
"No problem. He was getting on my nerves anyway." Pepper turned to Aunt Hela.
"Hello, I'm Pepper Potts." He said, extending a hand.
"Hela, I'm the goddess of death." Pepper smiled and nodded.
Dad stood up straight and hugged his mum. "I'll stay for a bit and try to redeem this visit?" He nodded, as did Uncle Thor.
She walked over and cupped aunt Hela's face. "It's been too long."
They embraced, and a tinge of jealousy sprung through me. Dad wrapped an arm around me.
I get the same thing when she hugs Thor. Don't worry. We've got each other, and I'm not going to let anything happen to you.
I smiled up at him. He tried smiling, but it didn't reach his eyes. I could tell he was still mad. Kinda like the Hulk when he tried to take me the other day.
Bruce walked over. "Are you okay?"
I nodded. "Good, the other guy's asking a lot. And I was wondering too." I nodded.
Someone stroked my hair, and I saw Natasha.
"You okay?"
She nodded mindlessly and hugged me again.
"Are you sure?" I received a shrug this time.
"I'm still here. It's okay," I said.
"I'm just worried. He didn't exactly give up easy." She said.
I nodded. I knew this was probably hitting her hard since she'd raised me as a mother. But she looked dead inside. I hugged her and tucked my face into the crook of her neck.
"It's okay, I promise." She nodded again, but I questioned whether she was relaxing or not.
I stepped back, and Bruce awkwardly wrapped an arm around me.
"Glad you're still around, kiddo. Maybe now the Hulk will stop shouting in my ear!" He said, getting frustrated at his counterpart.
"I'm okay, big guy," I said, hugging him back. He seemed to calm rather quickly, presumably from the Hulk doing the same. Tony huffed and squeezed me with his hug.
"Tony. Lungs... need oxygen." He chuckled.
"Glad to be keeping you around." I nodded.
When he released me, Steve came out with food.
"Everyone's welcome to eat."
We all sat at the table and made pleasant conversation as if nothing had happened. The problem is, I knew there was, and everyone's pleasantries were false. It was tense and uncomfortable, at least for me. Afterwards, I went into my room to cool down.
Peter was on my ceiling.
"The heck, dude?" I asked.
"Dude, I'm not the only one in here!" I saw Jaci Grant.
"Hi, I'm the Crimson Curse." She said.
"I gathered that. Your scarf was the same one you wore in class."
She flushed. "Sorry I didn't help more. I don't fight well. I just discovered my powers before I moved here."
I nodded. "No, you did well." I encouraged.
"Not as good as you." She said, rubbing her neck.
"I was raised by the Avengers. You're doing the best you can."
She nodded. "Thanks, that means a lot."
Peter stared at the door.
I turned and saw my dad. "I believe I've neglected to thank the two of you for aiding my daughter the other day."
They nodded.
"Dad, this Peter and Jaci." He nodded.
"Thank you both. I don't know what I would have done if something happened to her."
"No problem, mister, Loki, prince, sir."
I shook my head at Peter. "Kid. Why are you in Astrid's room?" Tony asked, popping his head in.
"Oh, Mr Stark. We were just making sure she was doing well after the last battle thing. We can go."
"No, it's okay. But she's gotta go somewhere else, and then we're gonna do dinner. So she'll see you tomorrow at school. Kay?" They nodded and left.
"Where am I going?" I asked.
"Pepper, Nat, and your dad are taking you down to my lab with me to make you an armour, kay?"
I nodded.
"Great. You're gonna blow everyone away." Tony said excitedly.
A/N: sorry this one's short, late, and bad. Here's why. I can barely type with them. I'm so sorry guys! I'll have a better one out by Monday. I promise.
