We rushed out into the main area, and I was torn from the window as something sliced into it. I shrieked and covered my head as I hit the ground. Something pinned me to the ground and I tried to shove it off.

"No!" I said, continuing to scream.

My hands were grabbed as I batted at it.

"Open your eyes, Älskling." I opened them and saw my father.

He offered a smile. "Are you okay?" He asked, letting my hands go.

I nodded and he helped me up.

"Stay close, Älskling." I nodded.

He offered a hand and lead me out of the room with shattered glass.

Tony hugged me tightly. "Are you okay?" He asked frantically.

I nodded. "He saved me," I said, looking up at my father.

Tony nodded. "Good on ya," Tony said, clapping him on the shoulder. He reached out and his armour flew over. "You stay with someone. If you need to move, call someone."

I nodded. "Okay, be safe!" I hollered as he flew off.

"He'll be okay." My father said, rubbing my shoulder.

"Do we go help? Or..."

"Not unless someone asks. I'm staying here to protect you." He said.

I nodded.

Uncle Thor came flying through the window. "Stay here!" He said before flying off.

"There you go." My father picked me up and pulled me into the back corner of the room. "We'll stay here." He said, tucking us behind a pony wall. He sat crisscross, and I sat in his lap. "I've got you." He said soothingly.

I curled into him as things exploded.

Loki's pov

This is it, now's my chance to protect her. I couldn't save her mother, I'm not letting anything happen to her.

She curled into me as an explosion rocked the building.

"It's okay." I didn't know if it was. The thing that'd crashed into the building was a Chitauri cruiser.

How did Thanos get ahold of more of them? I thought Stark wasted them all.

The building shook violently once more and she gripped my shirt.

"It's okay. I'll protect you, I promise."

Astrid's pov

My father promised to protect me as I clung to him. Sure I'd been raised with the Avengers but life'd been fairly quiet since Ultron, and I was sent away for that.

"I'm scared," I admitted.

"I know, but I've got you. I'm not going to let anything happen to you."

Something screeched and footsteps sounded.

My father hugged me tighter.

I looked up for reassurance and he pressed a finger to his lips. I was shifted off his lap and he crouched behind the wall.

A Chitauri came into view and he stabbed it before crouching once more. He made a "stay" motion before leaping out at several more Chitauri.

I heard a yelp and a Chitauri crept around the wall. I bumped into the bar. I leapt over it and grabbed the gun under the counter. It leapt at me, and I fired off several rounds. I dropped back and waited. My pulse pounded in my ears and I couldn't catch my breath.

I just killed something.

I realised too late that something leapt at me. I tried to fire but was clawed in the side of my head.

•••••••
My ears were ringing still as someone grabbed my shoulders.

"Ast... Astri... Wa... come o... Älskling..."

My hearing phased in and out as ringing interrupted it.

"Astr... On... Need you... Don't go."

I shook my head violently. "Ringing," I said weakly.

"You're bleeding. You need to be careful." He said, stroking my hair. "You're okay. I took care of it. " He held me as I slumped slightly.

"My head hurts." I groaned.

He nodded. "I know." He paused, and his head perked up. "Stay here."

I nodded slowly.

He stood up and conjured two daggers. "Don't move; there's more." He said, rushing off.

I reached my head up to my temple. My fingers came back slick with my own blood. I gagged slightly.

"Astrid?" He called.

"Blood!" I called back.

"I know, just hang on. Oh! I'll heal you in a second." He came back over but was grabbed. "Hold on!"

Someone grabbed my arm and hauled me up.

"Odinson!" A voice boomed from behind me.

Father was shoved to his knees and had his head held to look at me.

"I told you I'd make you suffer if you failed. Now I have a way to hurt you beyond your wildest dreams." The voice continued.

"Please, mighty Thanos, don't hurt her. I'll do anything."

"Too late. You used her resurrection."

Something hit me, and I hit the ground.
