I opened my eyes, and sunlight slipped through the leaves.

A face moved to hover over mine, and her hair draped. "Oh, you're not supposed to be here."

I frowned. "Where'm I?" I asked, sitting up.

The woman moved into a sitting position.

I looked down, and I was in a light green dress.

No blood.

"I'm dead," I stated emptily.

"You are. You shouldn't be."

I looked over at her. "Who're you to decide? We all have our time. I got longer and better than a lot of people." I snapped.

She sighed. "He was supposed to care for you."

I frowned. "My dad did his best. He avenged me. It's not like Odin even let him near me for a while." She leaned forward.

"I'm sorry, Älskling." She whispered, hugging me.

Something clicked, and my eyes widened. "Mom?"

She pulled away, tears in her eyes, a smile on her face. "Yes! It's Elvire, my beloved." She sounded so proud.

"Don't be mad, please? He tried so hard."

"I know he did." She said, hugging me again.

A shadow grew over us, and I looked up.

"Welcome to Valhalla, Lokisdottir. You're early." A woman stated.

"Who're you? And why does everyone keep saying that?" I asked.

"I am Hildr. I guide the Valkyries until Brunnhildar returns. And we expected you to live for 5000 years. You are a fighter. Are you not?"

"Yeah, I dunno how to tell you this, but soldiers die early sometimes. 'Specially when a stinking alien jumps you."

Hilder and mom looked confused.

"A Chitauri dropped off the ceiling and stabbed me."

My mom wrapped an arm around me and held me. "I'm so sorry, Astrid."

Liquid dripped on my shoulder, and I realised she was crying.

I wrapped my arm around her. "Mom, it's okay, I promise. My adoptive family's going to have a hard time though."

"I was so hoping to meet you, but not so soon."

I smiled. "We don't always get to pick when we go. It's okay, mom."

She hugged me and tucked my head under her chin.

"It's nice to meet you, mom."

The wind rushed around us, and I looked up. A stinking pegasus was landing.

"Hildr. What is she doing here!"

"I'm dead, duh," I said.

The woman frowned. "She's not ready." She said.

"I know, Geirdriful. But she can learn. She has to."

The other woman huffed. "Tell the others the Little Valkyrie has arrived."

A/N: I'm probably the most hated author on Wattpad at the moment. Yes, I killed her. Yes, I have a sequel planned. Yes, I'll have the first chapter out by tomorrow.

Edit: 11-8-21 It already has 19 chapters out for your viewing pleasure.

As implied by the last line, the sequel is called Little Valkyrie. Depending on how well it does, I might figure out a way to make it a trilogy, since you guys seem to love Astrid. I love y'all, thanks for reading this one!

A/N 2: Here's the cover to look for Little Valkyrie. I'm still sorry if I made anyone cry.
