It was a quiet Friday evening the only thing that could be heard was the bubbles coming from boiling soup that was cooking in the crock pot. "Ugh, grandma I don't get it." I said looking at the four roses that was sitting on the kitchen table. "I think it's cute, you have a secret admirer." Ali just rolled her eyes at her grandma's comment. "Every day this week I got a rose with a note with a letter on them, except I didn't get one today." Grandma gave a look that showed she had no idea what was going on while getting up to check the soup. "Do they spell out something?" Grandma slightly hinted. "Um... I have... A, T, E?... TEA?, EAT?, ATE?." Ali sighed now really confused. "I think their asking if I had ate tea or eat tea, this is just confusing."
*Ding dong* I gave grandma an irritating look. "I'm not getting that." Grandma didn't answer she just went straight to the door with a big smile on her face. "Hi Genma." Grandma said while opening the door. "Hey thanks for inviting me for dinner." Genma told thanked her walking inside with a red rose in his hand. "Ali why don't you take a break from your rose solving, Genma's here." Grandma paused looking straight at Genma. "Or maybe he can help you." She finished while nudging him in the ribs. Ali looked up now noticing Genma had the perfect red rose in his hand. He spoke up this time. "This was outside." I took it from him and looked at the tag on it. I read out loud. "D." Now looking at all of the letters on the table.
After a few minutes of rearranging the letters, I had them in the order of "A,T,E,!" Giving a frustrating sigh, getting ready to up. Genma slid the letter "D." in front of all of the other ones. Now looking at it in a different order I then again try to find a message of the rose. "D-A-T-E-!" I spelled out loud. "Date!?" I now figured out the word but I was still just as confused. "They want to know what the date is today?" Grandma face palmed. While Genma spoke up. "The hidden leaf is holding a sports day for the genin, I'm going and thought maybe you'd like to join me?" Ali thought about it for a second before answering. "Well yeah that sounds fun but, what does that have to do with the roses?" He didn't believe it. He couldn't believe it. He couldn't take it, He spoke his next sentence as bluntly as he could. "I'm asking you on a date."
The room went silent, my eyes went wide, face on fire, Grandma sitting at the table with her chin on her palm enjoying the entertainment of her granddaughter's embarrassment. "I-it was that obvious?" I said out loud but mostly to myself. I was literally at a loss for words. Genma waited a minute before speaking up. "So what do you say?" After regaining my composure I managed to form words, well a word. "O-Ok." I said blushing with a big smile. The rest of the night the three of them had dinner, tea and coffee, and a movie marathon.
Sure on the outside you could tell I was happy about the festival next Friday but on the inside you could see the colors of the fireworks of excitement because of my upcoming "DATE!"
