Following Fuli and Uon
Fuli's been staying at the oasis for the past few days, trying to figure out what was going on with Uon. No matter where she saw him, he was covered up to the shoulders in mud, and smelled like mint. She could've sworn that he also only slept on his left side, but when his left was revealed without any mud, she could just make out a bit of deep orange fur that was in some pattern. HIs left was never revealed enough for her to get a good look at it, though.
"So," Fuli said, trying to figure out why Uon seemed so familiar to her, "what did your old home look like?"
"My old home?" Uon replied, startled that she asked the only question he wasn't prepared for. "It was beautiful, there was grass everywhere, but one day, it just all died due to the new leader not respecting the circle of life, or something like that. I don't see why the ground cares. If anything, it should've flourished. The new leader was a predator, so less herbivores to eat the grass."
"The same thing happened to my home. My parents and the king and queen died trying to protect it, I kno-" Fuli said, only to see Uon walking away sadly. "Where are you going?" she asked
I need to go somewhere to think." Uon replied
Following Fuli
I wonder where Uon went to think, and why. If he's never heard of the Lion Guard, he surely hasn't heard about the Pride Lands, so why would he care about the king and queen's deaths? I should try to track him. I'll know his scent, I've been near him long enough. Fuli thought, sniffing to try to find Uon's scent, until she found it and followed the trail to see Uon standing out on a cliff, just sitting there. Fuli decided she should go over there and comfort him, whatever's bothering him.
"So," Fuli said, "why did you run off like that when I said the king and queen were dead?"
"Oh," Uon replied, obviously upset at their deaths."Simba and Nala used to visit me in my home every dry season until my mom died due to the new leader, so I got close to them, and now I'm sure I mourn their deaths just as much as you do."
"I do." Fuli replied, "I-"
crraackkk
The earth started to crack and shake beneath them, causing them to stand. A tree fell in the way of their escape back to their dens, and the only other option was to jump into a lake below
"Fuli!" Uon said, "We have to jump, now!"
"But-" Fuli starting saying
"I know how much you hate water, Fuuls, but it's our only option, the cliff isn't stable at all, we'll fall in anyways." Uon replied
"Fine." Fuli said, ready to jump. "But that doesn't mean I have to like it." I never told him how much I hate water, so how does he know? And why'd he call Fuuls? Only animals close to me call me that; they're the only ones who know of that nickname that Kion started. She thought
"Wouldn't ask ya too," Uon said in a voice that was almost too familiar to Fuli as they jumped down into the lake below, just landing in it.
After Uon got to shore, Fuli struggled to swim, 'If this is the end, Kion, wherever you are, just remember, I love you' she thought
"Well thanks for the nice words, but I won't let it end here for you. I can't let it end here. You need to go back." Uon said, jumping into the water and dragging Fuli out. "You said the exact same thing in the battle."
"Wait..." Fuli said, "How'd you hear that? And how'd you know what I said in thought to Kion during the battle?"
"Well, shoot," Uon answered as he jumped into the water, cleaning off the mud, and clearing his scent, "looks like I'm already in the deep end."
'I can't believe you haven't figured that out who I am at all yet.' Uon told Fuli through thought 'With all the hints that were there. Just pay attention to my name. Who else do you know that has a name that ends in 'gozi'?
"You're..." Fuli said, running up to nuzzle him. "Kion!"
"You got it!" Kion said
"Why didn't you come back all this time?"
"Because I felt like I failed you. And now that I know mom and dad are dead, I don't think I can ever go back home."
"I understand, but we both know that you can go home without any consequences."
"I know. I'll sleep on it and get back to you in the morning."
"You wanna sleep together tonight?"
"You know it!"
The two felines headed for their den when Paka appeared out of a tree, startling the two.
"So, you've finally revealed your identity to her." Paka said
"Yeah, and we might be heading back tomorrow to defeat Scar and Makucha." Kion said
"Makucha!" Paka spat
"Did he do something to you?" Fuli asked
"Yes!" Paka continued. "He was my mate, before we had cubs and he abandoned me to go wherever he went."
"So that's where Giza and Jioni came from." Kion said
"Yes." Paka replied. "I'd like to kill him with his blood on my paws. I'll go back with you, and get everyone who is willing to fight."
"Asante, Paka." Fuli said. "We'll need all the help we can get."
The three felines headed back to their den to go to sleep, but Fuli and Kion combined their nests into one nest so they could sleep together.
