This is for anyone who was dissatisfied with who Kion ended up with in the end. I'm completely fine with Kion being with Rani, but I know there are people who aren't, and I can see why not. While we've seen Fuli for pretty much every episode, we've only seen Rani for eight. I can see a way for Kiuli to still exist, though. So, here it is. And yes, this is technically an AU to an AU. This takes place after Episode 21 of Season 3 of the canon Lion Guard. I don't know if I'm going to make this into a book of its own, but this is a chapter.
Following Kion, Rani, & Fuli
"Kion, Fuli," Rani started, a little frustrated at how close Kion & Fuli were to each other, "we should go on patrol now."
"We're not doing shifts anymore?" Fuli asked.
"Oh." Rani felt embarrassed at not thinking of that. "You two should go, then." She yawned. "I'm a little tired right now."
"You should get some rest if you're that tired." Kion stood up and looked to Fuli. "Come on Fuli, let's get the rest of the guard."
"Right, Kion." Fuli followed Kion to try to find the Guard.
Following Kion & Fuli
"Kion, how much do you like Rani?" Fuli asked. She truthfully wanted to know, not just for her sake, but for both Rani and Kion's sake.
"Oh." Kion was taken aback by Fuli words. He thought she only liked him as a brother, and even if she wanted him to be his mate, he didn't think it could happen with his family able to come visit him. "She's a great lioness. I can't think of a better lioness to be my mate." Kion hoped Fuli would pay attention to his word choice. He would like Fuli as his mate, but Fuli is a cheetah and not lioness.
"Oh." Fuli looked down. "Would you want to have cubs with her?"
"Not right now at least." Kion answered, wondering why Fuli was so interested in his love life all of a sudden. He was getting a little uncomfortable, but not enough to stop. "Would you want cubs with Azaad?"
"Azaad isn't even my mate." Fuli answered. "I like him as a brother. Even if he was my mate, I don't think I'd want cubs with him."
"Kion!" Bunga jumped onto Kion's back, startling him. "We're going on patrol now?"
"We're all here." Ono came flying from the trees.
"Let's go, Kion, Fuli." With his words, Bunga jumped onto Fuli, who tried to shake him off, but to no avail.
"Bunga!" Fuli snapped. "Get off me!"
"But you're so soft," Bunga complied.
"Off!" Fuli shook herself, finally getting rid of Bunga. "Patrol now." Fuli stalked off, Kion right behind her, and the rest of the Guard on his heels.
Following Fuli
After the patrol, Fuli decided she needed to leave to be on her own for a little. She couldn't stop thinking about Kion not being able to think of a better lioness than Rani to be his mate. She knew he didn't like her the same way she did, so she was surprised when Kion buried his muzzle into his fur, sobbing.
Following Kion & Rani
"Rani, I'm telling you, we need to focus on keeping the Tree of Life peaceful." Kion looked at his mate with worry. "Not cubs right now."
