"I can take her home if you like." Ethan and Pietro were standing outside the office, watching Wanda and Emily as they laughed down the hall. Pietro smiled. Wanda had never had any friends and seeing her so happy with someone that wasn't him was a rare sight.
"No, she doesn't like being alone. Thank you though,"
"Then I'll take her to work with me. I'm sure she won't mind." Ethan smirked.
"I'm positive she won't." Pietro chuckled. "Thank you."
"No problem. My boss likes her anyway." He smiled. "Have fun in detention," He teased.
---------------------------------
"-and then she went back to the real world, leaving him behind."
"How could she do that?" Ethan teased. Wanda was telling him the ending of the book he had bought for her. Usually, he would hate having books spoiled for him, but the way Wanda was talking about it made him smile. He had never seen someone so excited about a book.
"I know! I thought she was going to bring him back with her," She jumped up onto the counter.
"Ya know, when people hear you talk like that about a book, they might think you're crazy," She beamed.
"I know. Pietro always says that." Ethan chuckled. "But you have yet to call me crazy." She pointed out.
"I don't know, I kinda like it when you rant about books." He smirked as she nudged him.
"Wait until you hear about Beautiful Creatures," Wanda rolled her eyes and turned around, finding Pietro standing behind her.
"Ooh, that one sounds interesting."
"It is!" Wanda insisted, making Pietro laugh.
"I might have heard it about 200 times."
"Or six." Wanda corrected as Ethan laughed.
"Come on, Emily's going to be at home soon." Pietro pulled Wanda off the counter.
"I'll just finish up and be right there." Ethan waved as they left.
"She's pretty," Alexa, Ethan's boss, came up behind him.
"I know," Ethan turned back to the computer.
"You should ask her out."
"Woah, what?"
"Ask her out. She likes you."
"She...what?"
"You saw her smile. Besides, you're both nerds, it would be adorable."
"Uh, no?"
"I'm calling it now." She smirked as she walked away, leaving Ethan staring after her.
---------------------------------
"But if you're standing in the South Pole, you're technically looking down to look at the sky," Emily said.
"But you would still be looking up!" Wanda insisted.
"How long has this argument been happening?" Pietro asked, laughing.
"Two days," Ethan told him.
"But looking at the globe, you'd be looking down,'
"But if you're standing in the South Pole, you aren't looking at a globe! You are looking up at the sky,"
"I'm pretty sure you'd be looking down,"
"So, Emily, how's your mom's business going?" Pietro said quickly, making everyone laugh. The phone rang, and Pietro ran to answer it.
"Hello?" Everyone stopped and watched as Pietro's face went from playful to worried.
"N-no, I've got her here. Yeah, she's okay. Well, I told him- yes, okay. I'll come in early tomorrow morning. Okay." He set the phone back on its stand angrily.
"What's wrong?" Wanda stood up and went over to him.
"Remember that guy, who I banned from the cafe?" Wanda rolled her eyes.
"Yeah?"
"He came back a while ago. Maya said she was working tomorrow, so he's coming in tomorrow."
"Pietro-"
"And I'm going in tomorrow to deal with him."
"Would you stop punishing people for me?"
"Well, they need to learn-"
"Learn what? Not to think?"
"In his case, yes." Wanda sighed and put her head in her hands.
"I'm not even gonna ask," Ethan stated. Emily chuckled and nodded. "Oh, and Emily? I think Wanda has something she wants to show you."
"I...what?" Wanda looked over at Pietro was smirked. Then she realized: he had her wooden blocks in front of him. "Oh, no. I don't think-"
"She won't tell anyone," Ethan assured. Emily just looked around at them, confused. Wanda sighed and sat on the ground with the blocks. Closing her eyes, she curled her fingers, wrapping her magic around the blocks. She moved them around the apartment, breathing deeply. She heard Emily gasp, and she dropped them to the ground and opened her eyes.
"That was so cool!" She squealed. Wanda breathed a sigh of relief. She was used to people being afraid of her, but here was Ethan and Emily, who were fascinated by her.
"She can also read and manipulate minds," Pietro told her, smirking.
"We were experimented on by HYDRA, a 'secret' organization with the goal of changing the world. Or so they told us. Our parents were killed in the bombings, and we wanted to help fight in the war, so we volunteered. Then they tortured us for years, and by the time we were given powers, the war was over. We escaped and lived on the streets until we found Maya, who offered us a job so we could pay for an apartment."
"So, why are you going to school?"
"We didn't want to, Maya signed us up since we never got to go." She nodded.
"So f you were both experimented on, what can you do?" She asked Pietro, who smirked and ran to the other side of the room. Her eyes widened and he ran back, his blue streak lingering in the air. "Wow. I don't know why you don't show people, that is awesome!"
"Right?" Ethan said.
"Well, we don't know where HYDRA is anymore, and Wanda's a bit paranoid they're coming after us," Pietro told them. Emily nodded.
"It's still so cool," She grinned.
"Glad you like it," Pietro smirked.
