As far as anyone knew, Tony Stark went missing two years ago. About a year after that, Peter Parker also went off the radar. Pepper grew insanely worried and anxious about the safety of her husband and Peter. Nobody asked for ransom. There were no clues about the whereabouts of Iron Man and Spider-Man and zero info on their mysterious disappearances.

But what really happened? HYDRA.

They had grabbed Tony as he was walking down the street and took him far, far away. To Russia, where most of the important HYDRA bases were located. He had stayed there and HYDRA had forced him to build weapons and the days were full of torture. Just like Afghanistan (did I spell that right?) but this time, it lasted way longer.

Peter was on patrol and was knocked out when he was trying to save an innocent woman from a mugger. He woke up in an unfamiliar place. Soon he realized where he was and why he was there: HYDRA wanted him to become the new winter soldier. They trained, tortured and wiped him many times until he would behave in front of his superiors and follow orders. He was a deadly killing machine.

Peter was sent out on multiple assassination missions. He went by no name. He just flashed by like a shadow and always killed his target. The news and stuff decided to call him the Shadow Assassin and the Avengers did take notice. They had tried and failed to bring him in because Peter always beat their asses.

Now, on with the story.

Peter

Peter. That's his name. Or was his name. He could remember little snippets of his past now; Swinging through the air with adrenaline rushing through his veins. Something amazing and fabulous called movies. A bunch of paper with words on them about a specific topic bound together, a book. A looming form in the distance. A tower. So tall that it might touch the sky. A glint of red and gold. An insignificant muttering of 'language'. Something soft and plush, a pillow. All these things seemed unfamiliar to him no matter how much he though about them. HYDRA had wiped him many times but the memories, perhaps because of the multiple wipes, were coming back slowly.

Peter.

He could remember a man calling to him. Himself fighting to take down a couple of men who cornered a woman in an alley. There was a brief memory of a bunch of people assembled on a sofa. Sofa? What even is that?

The door opened. The commander walked in.

"01742, you have a mission." He said simply.

Peter stood up and came to attention.

"Ready to comply."

The commander explained that he had to kill a man named Jace Ackerman.

Peter set out immediately. He drove his motorbike to New York (Yes he is in America not Russia just yet...). He found out that Jace was at a party and snuck inside. He was preparing to shoot when all of a sudden, the Avengers burst in. Immediately the all zeroed in on Peter and he couldn't help thinking that it felt strangely familiar. One of them shot an arrow that Peter caught and tossed back. He somersaulted and dodged the next few items fired at him: a bunch of knives, a few more arrows, a whole barrage of bull eyes and a shield. Peter landed next to Jace in the main floor and slit his throat in a quick motion with his pocket knife. Just as he turned an arrow pierced his right arm. It went numb as soon as the arrow made contact.

Poison.

Peter hauled ass out of there.

When he got back to base, he was congratulated on completing the mission and his right arm had to be amputated since it was hit by an arrow dipped in a poison specially fabricated by the Avengers. Peter's right arm was gone just like that. The drugs kept him under during the amputation but after that, he had to be sent to another base to get a metal arm.

So he was shipped to Russia in a crate.

It was uncomfortable. The dead rocked and heaved beneath the ship he was on. He traveled for months until he finally got to his destination. He was then mailed across Russia and when he was finally let out of the crate. He was unconscious and extremely malnourished since he had little food and water packed with him in the crate. He had cramps everywhere and all his muscles were sore. The guards dragged him into a new keeping cell and left some provisions for him for when he woke up.

Peter did wake. He ate all the food and drank the water in seconds. He was so tired that he doubted he could walk. He stayed in the cell for a week, recovering.

On the eighth morning a guard came in and took him to a room. He was fitted with a metal arm which had a black spider on the shoulder. The arm worked and it felt balanced but he couldn't feel anything anymore.

Peter then went on a couple of missions in Russia.

He killed people who interfered HYDRA's business and became the world known assassin once more.

That was before he saw Stark.

The two heroes had been kept in cells right next to each other. Peter had never seen him until a guard let his guard down and walked away to his break early. That was when Peter saw him.

Tony was battered and bruised and extremely thin. He was just barely awake but it was obvious that he had been through a lot of torture and little food. Just like Peter but he was no super-human. Peter suddenly remembered everything.

He couldn't act then, though.

He didn't have an escape plan.

Yet.

So he did the most he could do and snuck Tony some food everyday. He slowly got better and stronger while Peter made a plan of escape.

Ridiculously though, Tony had never seen Peter's face.

So when he barged into his cell, he screamed.

That really killed a lot of time.

Peter had hauled Tony over his shoulder and ran like hell. He knocked out several guards and burst through the front door, ripping it off the hinges with pure force. Peter than raced into ten desolate forests of Russia and they hid for a while. Tony had calmed down now, realizing the person who carried him was trying to help him escape. Peter still had his mask on. He slowly grasped his gun and pulled is out. HYDRA agents were everywhere, looking for them. They couldn't escape.

Peter jumped up and began firing to protect both of them. He received a bullet in his abdomen and leg. No, wait. Two bullets in his abdomen and one in his leg. He managed to dodge the others and shot the agents down.

Then he grabbed Tony's hand and they ran.

For days.

Until they were so tired they collapsed.

Peter had a general sense of direction and that soon took them into a city. There they snuck into a motel and Peter picked the lock on a room. They entered and both collapsed. Peter's three bullet wounds were almost healed, thanks to the spider bite. He removed his mask for the first time in days.

And Tony was S H O O K.

"Peter? How? You-, that was you in HYDRA?" He asked, not believing his eyes.

Peter nodded.

"Yes."

"Oh god, how long were you-."

"A year and two months." Peter said monotonously. He was almost seventeen now.

They embraced and talked about what happened to themselves into the night. They slept peacefully for the first time in years. Father and son, finally together.

Next morning, the stole some tickets from a ship that was bound for America. They hid on the ship until they finally arrived. Then they snuck off and found their way to New York, gradually.

It was on Peter's seventeenth birthday when they arrived in the city that never sleeps.

Peter considered it the best birthday gift ever.

Tony told him that there would be better gifts for when the got home and settled again.

So the headed for the looming form of Stark Tower in the distance.
