Heart Attack

Lilly's POV

"Lilly, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that you're healing up nicely and we're discharging you today. The bad news is that your dad has been arrested for DUI and assault on a police officer. Do you have a relative you could stay with?" Dr. Carlson hit me with this news. No dad? No more abuse? But who would I stay with? I had no more family left, and didn't know with to do. Demi walked back into the room just as I was about to say I had no idea.

Demi's POV

Lilly, that poor girl. She was just as suprised as me when I opened my mouth and said, "she can stay with me! I'm not on tour right now and I can support her."

"Well, seeing that you're fit to take care of her, she's all yours!" exclaimed Dr. Carlson.

I knew this would be a total turning point in my life, and a good one, too.

Lilly's POV

When Demi said I could stay with her, I think I pissed my pants. Leaving the hospital with the one and only Demetria Lovato was something I'd never imagine I would ever do. We had to fly out to LA, so we headed to the airport. I finally felt like I could live a happy life. After a long flight and nice dinner, Demi and I crashed in her huge house.

2 AM: I woke up in a panic. Flashes of my father beating me, my mom perishing before my eyes. Cold sweat beaded around me and I literally felt insane. I had to take it out...the demons within me demanded it. "You're a failure, everything is your fault you stupid bitch!" they screamed at me. I practically fell off the couch and ran to the downstairs bathroom I was using. Without any hesitation, I grabbed a razor and sliced my skin so much until I felt dizzy. I guess I had made a noise, because soon enough Demi raced downstairs. "Babe, is anythin- LILLY WHAT HAPPENED?!" I felt so ashamed of myself. Here she was, my idol taking me in, and I return the favor by cutting. I don't say anything but let my tears drop as she cleaned out my cuts. "You're gonna sleep with me from now on," Demi said, "and that's an order."

As I curled into Demi's arms that night, I couldn't help but feel at peace; I hadn't felt this since I was a young child. I welcomed it with open arms as I drifted off into sleep.
