Keira Ross found herself quite overwhelmed as she stood in the United Nations Building in Vienna.
After having only been informed about the Sokovia Accords by a man who called himself Secretary Ross barely 24 hours ago, she now found herself in Vienna to sign.
Even though she wasn't actually an Avenger, Keira was still required to sign considering her involvement in Sokovia.
So, she had jumped on a plane with Natasha Romanoff to attend the conference.
Tony, Rhodey, and Vision had already signed and as far as Keira was concerned Wanda hadn't decided yet if she would or not.
Tony obviously had a huge part in this but considering Keira still hadn't uttered a word to him since that day she didn't quite know.
Steve, Sam, and Aquila would not be signing however, as the three of them had attended Peggy Carter's funeral as well as all having their own reasons for not signing.
Keira didn't even need to ask Natasha about it, it was clear that the relationship between Aquila and Natasha was struggling with the pressures of the Sokovia Accords.
Natasha walked beside Keira as they surveyed the room, both feeling slightly out of place in the room of government officials.
"Excuse me, Miss Romanoff, Miss Ross?"
"Yes?" Natasha and Keira responded in unison.
"These need your signatures."
Keira and Natasha both quickly signed the documents that the UN staff member needed them to sign.
"Thank you."
Keira smiled slightly at Natasha before continuing their walk around, Keira still wishing she could become invisible right about now. However, the two of them were soon stopped by the Prince of Wakanda himself.
"I suppose none of us are used to the spotlight," T'Challa said.
"Oh, well, it's not always so flattering," Natasha replied as Keira nodded along.
"You seem to be doing alright so far. Considering your last trip to Capitol Hill. . . I wouldn't think you would be particularly comfortable in this company, you too, Miss Ross."
"Well, I'm not," Natasha replied.
"Yeah, it's not my favorite thing in the world," Keira said.
"That alone makes me glad you're both here."
"Why?" Natasha asked. "You don't approve of all this?"
"The Accords, yes. The politics, not really. Two people in a room can get more done than a hundred."
"Unless you need to move a piano." King T'Chaka said, approaching the group.
"Father."
"Son. Miss Romanoff, Miss Ross."
"King T'Chaka." Natasha began. "Please, allow us both to apologize for what happened in Nigeria."
"Thank you. Thank you both for agreeing to all of this. I'm sad to hear that Captain Rogers nor Miss Cadman will not be joining us today."
"Yes, so am I."
Keira looked up as a voice sounded over the speakers. "If everyone could please be seated. This assembly is now in session."
"That is the future calling. Such a pleasure."
"Thank you," Keira said, before following Natasha to their seats.
"When stolen Wakandan vibranium was used to make a terrible weapon, we in Wakanda were forced to question our legacy. Those men and women killed in Nigeria were part of a goodwill mission from a country too long in the shadows. We will not, however, let misfortune drive us back. We will fight to improve the world we wish to join. I am grateful to the Avengers for supporting this initiative. Wakanda is proud to extend its hand in peace."
"EVERYBODY GET DOWN!"
Keira barely had a movement to register the world before fire ripped through the building.
Keira watched as fire crews tried to house down the burning buildings. Paramedics, as well as press, were running all over the place.
She was sitting next to Natasha both of them staring at the shell-shocked figure of T'Challa.
"I'm very sorry." Natasha spoke up.
Keira immendiantely noticed that T'Challa was playing with an ornate ring in between her fingers.
"In my culture, death is not the end. It's more of a. . . . stepping-off point. You reach out with both hands and Bast and Sekhmet, they lead you into a green veldt where . . . you can run forever."
"That sounds very peaceful," Keira replied.
"My father thought so," T'Challa responded, placing the ring onto his finger. "I am not my father."
"T'Challa." Natasha warned. "Task force will decide who brings in Barnes."
"Don't bother, Miss Romanoff and Miss Ross. I'll kill him myself."
Keira shared a look with Natasha as T'Challa got up and left. But it was quickly interrupted as Natasha's phone rang out.
Keira frowned as Natasha tried to stop Steve Rogers, Aquila Cadman and Sam Wilson from ultimately doing something stupid.
"Ah, yeah, thanks. I got lucky. I know how much Barnes means to you. I really do. Stay home. You'll only make this worse. For all of us. Please."
"No. Someone will. If you interfere. That's how it works now."
"Shit," Natasha said, as Steve hung up the phone call.
It all only seemed to be getting worse.
