Pegasus Grooming For Beginners
One of the most important things to learn when taking care of a Pegasus, is how to properly groom it.
For the most part, you would groom it as you do a horse. Pick their hooves. Then curry comb their coat before brushing with a hard-bristle brush, and finishing off with a soft body brush. Brush through their tail and mane with a brush or comb.
Once you get close to the withers, you start to notice a difference between horses and Pegasi. At the base of the mane and by the withers, you'll start to notice small feathers. Depending on the amount of feathers in their coat and mane, it is safest to use a soft brush.
The closer you get to the base of the wings, the more feathers you'll notice.
Unlike birds Pegasi cannot preen their own feathers, so in the wild another Pegasus will do it for them. If you have multiple Pegasi it is recommended to just let them preen each other. If you do not however, continue using the soft brush on their wings. This will be gentle enough to remove any dirt, but put enough pressure on and loose feathers that the next time your Pegasus stretches they should fall out.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE FEATHERS YOURSELF. Feathers fall out naturally so you do not get to choose which ones to remove.
Congratulations you now know how to groom your Pegasus.
