NATO MISSION: LEVIATHAN ATTACK 5

"It's nice to know they sent us on a suicide mission", I whispered to Sara, looking out the portholes of the control room as we came in range of the wreckage of the other four subs.

The first three missions failed spectacularly each time, barely getting close enough to even try and fire at the monster. The Leviathan, I guess. The world was panicking so much that the higher ups decided that maybe they should look in the old book to figure out how to beat it. Apparently it didn't work, because the fourth mission failed too.

We were mission number five. An all women crew from across nations, the only people who volunteered for the job. I think the commander decided to take the Lord of the Rings Eowyn approach. If no man got the job done, maybe we could. At the very least we wanted to go out in a bang of sea monster guts.

So  there we were 500 leagues under the sea, in a nuclear submarine heading to our death.

about 10 minutes after we passed the wrecks, we began to see the massive, murky shape of the Leviathan in the distance.

"Captain, its dead ahead"

"On my count fire the first one, aim for the large tentacle to the right, then the next one on the left. Last one is to go at the center."

"Aye Aye captain," we chorused.

I sat in front of the computer, launch codes ready, only needing to press the button to fire.

"5. 4. 3. 2. 1. Fire!"

We launched and watched as our missiles raced to the target, our hearts beating in our chests. If the monster hadn't known we were here before it probably did now. Our screens showed the crew had reloaded and we were ready to fire again. Then the shock waves hit. We watched as the water turned bright and then red, the monsters bottom limbs floating up or sinking. It was coming towards us.

The captain pressed the intercom "I'm proud to have served along side all of you, may we blast this fucker to bits." With that she shouted to us in the control room to fire once more, aiming for the large body that was coming at us. We did, and then Sara and I closed our eyes together and waited for it to end.

And waited.

And waited.

It never came. We felt the ocean around us shaking, we were waiting for the force of it all to tear us to bits, or for the monster to end us. But it never came. We opened our eyes. The Captain blinked down at us, before a smile shot across her face as she yelled for the status of the ship and how fast we could get to shore.

"We did it! We didn't die!'" Sara was yelling in my face, I grabbed her and kissed her like the world was ending, when really, it was saved.

The chapter after this one was the first draft of this that I wrote while drunk. Its good for laughs so enjoy!
