Webster's Guide to Fantasy Creatures Volume I

"Unicorns are a mythical horse species, cousins to horses and Pegasi*. Most commonly found in rural or sparsely populated areas throughout Europe and the America's, Unicorns are one of the most recognizable creatures on Earth.

Unicorns prefer solitary habitats, living in small herds. This is due to their shy nature which extends even to other Unicorns. Unicorns are very wary of humans, and only let small children and occasionally virgins get close. This is due to the popular theory posed by biologists that they can see purity in people. However whether or not this is true has yet to be determined as it is difficult for researchers to get close.

If you are lucky enough to spot a Unicorn whilst in the great outdoors, do not approach it. Because of their shy nature and theorized attraction to purity, you must let it come to you. If you disregard this advice please note that spooked unicorns have been known the trample and occasionally impale people who approach them."
