They all wanted to get closer to see what's happening with the monsters, but were too afraid to. Of course, the first thing many of the children looked for are there parents, but didn't see them. They were left to assume that their parents were out looking for more creatures in the woods behind the school.

They saw the teachers gathered around the unconscious creatures, the school bus is there and the lizard monsters are being floated into the back of it. The teachers that saw the students loitering outside is Ms. Puffin who was in the bus along with Mr. Greengrass. The students saw her get out of the vehicle and pointing at them, telling Mr. Greengrass to go take them back inside. Lottie and a few other of the older students moved to the front to talk to him.

"What are you all doing out here. You are supposed to be downstairs." They could see that he is angry at them, but is trying to look calm and unstressed.

"Yell sir," an older earth boy said "there were brownies." This didn't elaborate much, and you could tell by Mr. Greengrass's face that he's confused.

"Sir, brownies were down stairs and they attacked us." A fire boy explained more clearly. It looked like Mr. Greengrass is trying to take some sort of roll call, but is nearly impossible since the whole school was there. The principal and the younger nurse came over to see what's going on. Mr. Greengrass noticed that George isn't here and asked Ella where he is. The Principal let Ella and Mr. Greengrass go back into the school and look for George. Mr. Scorching and the nurse escorted all the students back into the school.

Melony felt someone touch her shoulder "are you alright?" The nurse asked, Melony nodded her head quickly as a reply.

Ella and the teacher finally came back with Ben and George. Their faces are covered in what looks like ash and speckles of green mush. The two boys looked embarrassed while Ella and Mr. Greengrass laughed at them. Ella ran over to Melony and whispered in her ear "their little potion didn't go according to plan and blew up in their faces." Both girls giggled, the boys noticed and Ben gave them a pretend, over exaggerated glare while George gave them a real one that could curdle milk.

Later that night, the Principal made an announcement to the students explaining that the brownies had brought the lizard creatures to distract everyone while they went inside. The remaining fairies let them in, all fairies and brownies are now fired.

The rest of the year was peaceful and uneventful. Both girls passed their classes and the rest of the school year was pleasant. There were little snags without the brownies and fairies. Mop's would spend an entire day cleaning one spot, and floating plates would sometimes spill sandwiches on students. But, even with these inconveniences everyone was happy. George and some of his friends would pick on the girls, and the girls would pick back. Soon, even Hattie and Poppy joined in on helping the girls get revenge on the boy. During their last meal at school Melony looked at the silverware with a small gray stone. She thought about the brownies and hoped that she would never half to deal with something like that again.

On the gray train home, both girls made plans to write over the summer and maybe, hopefully, visit each other. They were happy and excited to see each other again.
