Sorry, this was a sorta short, hastily thrown together chapter. I just wanted to get a chapter out. We'll get back to Crowley and Aziraphale's storyline soon, we just have to wrap up Adam's.
"How are you doing today?" Lucas asked cornering Adam in the locker room after gym class. They were the only two left.
"You don't have to pretend to care," Adam said, rolling his eyes. "I know guys like you wouldn't be caught dead talking to guys like me."
"Guys like me? You know I'm like the biggest nerd, right? A total loser. I just hang with those guys because my twin is kinda my only friend around here. And he's a total ass, so it doesn't really count."
Adam rolled his eyes. "Just leave me alone, okay? Its embarrassing enough you had to see that last night."
"You shouldn't be embarrassed. I'm honestly impressed you're here today and doing so well."
"I don't need your pity," Adam said, slamming his locker shut.
"I don't pity you, I just want to know how you're doing."
"Why the fuck would you care?" Adam snapped.
"Y'know, you can be a real asshole, Adam Young," Lucas said, leaning in quickly and locking his lips onto Adam's.
"What the fuck?!" Adam yelled, shoving him away. "What the fuck were you thinking?"
"I-I'm sorry," Lucas stammered. "I wasn't thinking—"
"I'm not GAY!" Adam shouted. "I'm not a faggot. Fuck off!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey, Wensley!" Adam said, getting his friend's attention.
"I don't want to talk to you," Wensleydale said, and Brian protectively put his arm around his boyfriend.
"What did I do this time?" Adam asked, rolling his eyes.
"Oh, we just heard from our buddy Lucas you called him a faggot," Brian said.
"I didn't! And since when are you friends with Lucas?"
"Since you stopped hanging out with us," Wensley said. "And Lucas is very nice! You'd be lucky to have him. But if you think he's too much of a ... of a pansy ... for you than so am I! Is that really what you think of me? That I'm a faggot. Is Brian a faggot too?"
"I didn't mean—"
"Forget about it," Brian said. "Come on, Wensley. And Adam, don't ever use that word again."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Heard you're a faggot," Johnson said with a chuckle as he shoved Adam into a locker later that day.
"Who'd you hear that from?" Adam asked, picking up the backpack he had dropped.
"Oh, just heard your friends talking about you behind your back. They hate you, you pathetic fuck."
"I know."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Like usual, he had fucked it all up again. He was such a fuckup!
He found himself that night back out at the bridge over the gorge, helpless and broken.
"What the fuck did I do to deserve this?" Adam screamed over the chasm. "Just constantly screwed over by a God who hates me! I didn't ask to be the fucking antichrist! I don't need you to make every fucking thing in my life go wrong!" Adam had tears streaming down his face. "You took Brian and Wensleydale. I fucked that up! And you send Lucas who seems like a literal angel, and I fuck that up too! Is it your fault, or is it mine? Because I don't know what's worse. Am I just constantly cursed by a God out to make my life a living hell or do I just completely fuck up every good thing that has ever happened to me? Is this all I am? Just another LOUSY FUCKUP? Answer me, God! IS THIS ALL I AM?"
God did answer, with a surprise phone call from one familiar demon-turned-angel. Adam stared at the phone, knowing he was in no state to talk to Crowley, or anyone for that matter. He declined the call and pocketed the phone, immediately feeling a wave of regret wash over him. Crowley could have helped him, and he just pushed him away, but he didn't have the strength on his own to call Crowley back, or even text him. He had, after another bout of cussing out the Almighty, written the simple word "help" in a text to Crowley, but his finger hovered over the send button as tears streamed down his face, but he couldn't do it. He couldn't do any of it.
