Jimin didn't much care for one-night stands. It wasn't that he didn't like the content, it was just he preferred to have a relationship first.
Usually, his closest friends were of the same thinking. That was why he went clubbing with them so often, they didn't all end up at a different girl's house at the end of the night. Of course, most of the time there was some good-natured flirting and maybe even a number given out here and there, but that was usually as far as it went.
Tonight though, Jimin wasn't surprised when Namjoon found him in the crowd of clubbers with a pretty girl trailing behind him.
Jimin had been talking to a slight, brown-haired girl as she'd sat at her booth. She wore a short black dress and heels, but she wasn't dancing and drinking like everyone else. It had been this, and her air of nervous energy that had drawn Jimin over to her booth. He recognized that she was uncomfortable and didn't want to be there. A few girls came over to the booth occasionally and talked to the girl, but they always wandered off to dance soon after. He hypothesized that the girl had come to the club with her friends reluctantly, probably to make sure everyone got home safely.
He could empathize with that role.
He'd approached her, and she'd given him the cold shoulder for a good five minutes, but Jimin had persisted. He wasn't hitting on her, just trying to be friendly, and soon, they were having a nice conversation.
Of course, Namjoon coming up with his conquest put the girl on edge, Jimin saw her tense from the corner of his eye immediately.
He frowned.
Namjoon was noticeably drunk, his clothes rumpled from the girl's hands. She'd been running them over him for nearly half an hour before Namjoon had decided to move things a little farther.
Jimin looked at his friend and felt a pang of fear for him. This wasn't like Namjoon.
He didn't go for these kinds of things. He liked relationships and commitments.
Now though, he'd had his heartbroken, and Jimin knew that in the hurt, his ideals would have moved to a much further shore.
Namjoon stooped down slightly to reach Jimin's ear level.
"We're gonna head out. Will you be okay here?" Namjoon's words came out slowly, a result of his drunkenness. Jimin frowned, in this state, he wasn't sure Namjoon would even remember where he lived.
"Namjoon-ah, I don't think this is a good idea. I mean, you just got out of," Namjoon's sudden cold stare made Jimin cut his words short. Jimin studied his friend's face, and he could easily see that Namjoon was already beginning to bury the pain under anger. He sighed deeply and shook his head, dropping his gaze from Namjoon's for a moment. "At least let me get you in a cab first."
"Fine," Namjoon nodded and stepped back a bit, the girl following his steps. Jimin tried to catch the attention of the girl he'd been talking with, but she avoided his gaze. He smiled sadly at her.
He wouldn't want to be dragged into this mess either.
Jimin muttered an unanswered goodbye and led Namjoon and his companion out of the club. In a few moments, Jimin had managed to procure a cab in the chilly night air. He didn't speak to Namjoon until they exchanged goodbyes. Jimin knew his friend wouldn't listen. As the cab left with the two intoxicated young people, Jimin sent a message to Taehyung, warning him that Namjoon was probably headed his way.
Taehyung responded quickly, telling Jimin that he'd gone to hang out with Yoongi and Jinae instead. Jimin could tell his friend was angry, but he also understood the distance he was putting between himself and Namjoon.
He'd wanted some of that when he'd seen the look of anger on the older man's face earlier in the club's dim lighting.
When Jimin got back to the booth, the girl was gone. He sighed and frowned; he'd liked her a lot. With some more worried thoughts about Namjoon, Jimin went home, alone.
*******
Taehyung had no idea where to go with Namjoon. He didn't know how to help him. Jimin's text had caused him to huff in frustration. Yoongi and Jinae had both looked over at him from their snuggle session on the couch with concern. Taehyung had just shaken his head, letting them know that he didn't want to discuss what was going on.
It wouldn't have mattered anyway, Namjoon wasn't in a place where he would listen to them.
He obviously wasn't listening to him.
Or Jimin for that matter.
Namjoon wasn't going to listen to anyone right now, in this mode, he'd only listen to his own thoughts.
Taehyung didn't want to dwell on what those thoughts would lead his friend to do.
