I took one quick look at him and walked out of the room to sit down. I almost started crying because he looked so bad. He had third degree burns all over his body. I pushed past Two-bit, so he knew something was wrong. I went to see Dally while I got the courage to go back into Johnny's room.

"Have you went to see Johnny yet?" He asked as I sat down.

"No. I just took a peek at him, and he don't look so good. I haven't got the courage to actually go into the room."

"Sophie, come on. This is a time of need for him. You have to go in there to see him. Now go."

I sat there for a few minutes building up courage. After I built some up, I have Dally a hug, told him I would be right back, and headed to see Johnny. I took a deep breath and walked into his room. Two-bit wasn't in there, but Pony was. I heard Johnny say a speech about it not being long enough, and he didn't want to die now.

"Johnny, you are not going to die. You can't die," I say.

"Sophie?" Johnny asked.

"Yeah, Johnny, it's me. I couldn't just ditch you."

I walked up, so I could see his face in the mirror, and he could see me. He smiled for a second, but it was replaced with a wince of pain. I could feel a hot tear run down my cold face. The nurse from the hallway walked in, and Pony moved out of her way.

"Johnny, your mother is here to see you."

"I don't wanna see her."

"But it's your mother?"

"I said I don't wanna see her. She probably just wants to tell me about all the trouble I'm in, so why don't you tell her to leave me alone," Johnny trailed off at the end.

"Is he gonna be okay?" Pony asked the nurse.

"Yes. He just passed out."

Pony and I just walked out, but on our way out, Pony ran into Two-bit. Pony told him that we can't see Johnny right now, but Two walked in anyway. He asked the nurse to give some bolk to Johnny, and we walked out. We ended up seeing Johnny's mother outside his room, and just by the look of her, I could tell she was a bitch. The nurse was trying to push her away, but she wasn't stopping.

"But I have a right to see him. He's my son. After all the trouble his father and I have been through to raise him, this is our reward. He'd rather see those no-count hoodlums than his own folks,"she looked over at us, and I gave her the same cold stare she gave me, "It was all your fault. Always running around in the middle of the night getting jailed and heaven knows what else."

Two-bit looked like he was about to cry, "No wonder he hates your guts. You go to hell. You go straight to hell."

Pony and I helped to pull Two toward Dally's room before he started something. We all walked into Dally's room, and he was fighting with the nurse about his gown. Since he told the nurse he threw his gown away, I was pretty sure he was in his underwear. I was his sister, so I could care less. I kind of just sat in the corner while the boys talked since I was with Dallas earlier. Dally asked Two-bit for his knife, and I could have sworn he looked like he was about to kill himself, but instead, he stabbed the blade into the bed. He screamed to do it for Johnny, and right then was when I realized how much he loved Johnny. He may have loved Johnny even more than he loved me, but I could care less because Johnny needed that more than I did. When they were finished, Pony, Two-bit, and I walked out of the hospital. It was chilly outside which made me shiver when I didnt want to. I knew exactly what Two-bit was going to do when I shivered......
