"I gotta go now.", I sigh using my arms to push myself up off Sunday's bed. We'd been laying there for what seemed like hours just talking in hushed tones. Sunday's eyes flicker over to me a frown tugging the corners of her lips down. She sits up, hand shooting out to grip my wrist. I look at her tan fingers that were now encircling my wrist then at her.
"Please don't go.", she barely whispers.I look at her phone which was lying on the table, and realize she hadn't touched it since Id gotten here, she'd been trying her hardest to keep me captivated, and making sure my attention was only on her.
"I have to Sunday..."
"No please...", she begs, her eyes wide and pleading. I let out a sigh knowing that in the end I wouldn't be able to resist but I had to at least try. Then again if I'm late for the movie night the guys might murder me.
"Sunday I have to its for work."
"Sing me a lullaby before you go?", she asks. I look at her confused for a moment, but she takes the opportunity to draw me closer to the bed. I sit down not really knowing whether or not my awful singing voice would break her ear drums. She lays back looking at me expectantly, waiting for some sort of sound to come out of me.
"I can't sing.", I finally admit.
"Lamest excuse ever and I don't care, sing for me.", she says rolling her eyes as she says the first part and her voice growing increasingly impatient yet pleading by the end.
"Sunday...", I trail off trying to find a point that she can't argue. Unfortunately I don't think it's quite possibly to find a point she won't try and get her way with.
"Make it a sweet goodbye and sing me to sleep.", she asks, her voice sweet as sugar. I let out a sigh and softly muttering words to a soft song trying to make it sound like singing instead of incoherent mumbling. At the end end of it Sunday just looksat me in almost disbelief and coins on to my hand, trying to keep me there. Her pink lips open then shut again before opening once more.
"That was a lousy excuse for singing, but i guess it doesn't matter,I'll see you in my dreams, maybe there you'll sing for me.", she mummers her eye closing. I let out a soft sigh and getup quietly walking out of the room, unsure of how to feel about the whole experience. I make my way through her dimly light house, flicking off any lights left on as I go, following what seemed to be a path of candles spread out on each table that created a line to the door. I inhale the scent of her house again, taking in the scent of vanilla, as my hand gripped the metallic door knob. My thoughts wander off to Sunday's rather harsh comments that had been doused in sweetness but we're still no less harmful.
Maybe this dating thing wasn't such a good idea after all.
Suddenly arms wrap around my neck spinning me around. A body is pressed against mine as Sunday's lips meet mine.
"You forgot the good bye kiss.", she says against my lips.
"I love you.", I say sweeping a piece of brown hair behind her ear and tucking it there. She smiles and kisses my cheek her eyes bright and happy.
"I love you too Seamus."
Or maybe this was a good idea and I'm just crazy.
