My eyes fluttered open as I slowly began to awake from my sleep.
The soreness in my legs already giving me a clear memory of went down last night as I reached my hand up and rubbed the sleep out my eyes.
I looked to my left to see Chris sleeping peacefully, a soft expression taking over his face.
His bare torso was on full display as he slept on his back.
God really took his time on him.
Biting my lip, I turned away. I sighed as I looked up at the ceiling and momentarily shut my eyes.
Think pure thoughts Celine, pure thoughts.
Grabbing my phone, I saw I had a missed call and a voicemail from an unsaved number.
Unlocking my phone I went straight to the voicemail to hear the message. Not wanting to wake Chris, I put it on the lowest volume and pressed the phone against my ear.
"Hello, this Moreen calling from Dr. Funari's office to remind you about the 11:30 morning appointment scheduled for Jalen Anthony. If you are unable to make it, please give us a call back to reschedule at 555-876. Thank you."
"Damn I completely forgot about his one month appointment" I mumbled to myself as I checked the time to see it was nine in the morning already.
Sighing, I carefully sat up in bed trying not to wake Chris up just yet.
As I was just about to fully get off the bed, I felt a hand grab my wrist causing my heart to speed up.
"Where you going?" Chris said groggily
"I have start getting ready because Jalen has his one month check up today" I said softly "I completely forgot about it"
"Oh that's today?" he said letting go of my wrist as he yawned
"Yeah, you coming?" I asked turning to face him
"yeah just give me time to wake up" he said rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
I soon after fully climbed out of bed knowing we had to get the day started or we would be late.
It was a chill morning as we got ready. Neither of us mentioned what happened last night. Maybe that also had to do with the fact we were in a rush.
And we did arrive ten minutes late regardless. Getting our the house on time with a newborn was a hard task.
Sitting in the waiting room, I began to fill out information on the clipboard given to me by the lady at the front desk.
"Is he getting a shot today?" Chris asked curiously
"Sadly yes" I sighed as I looked to a calm Jalen in his carrier. He didn't even know what was coming.
