"You ready to go?" Celine ask me as I sat on the stool in kitchen island numb and empty.
"Yeah" I said getting up from the stool.
"Wait a minute" she said coming in front of me, "your tie is crooked-"
Pushing her hand away, I grabbed my tie "I got it" I said more forcefully then I should've as I quickly fixed my crooked tie.
Celine gave me a tight smile before nodding and taking a step back from me.
"You want me to drive or-"
"I can't drive Celine" I said dryly as I walked up to the door grabbing the keys off the small table for her.
"Sorry" she said shaking her head almost punishing herself for forgetting.
Ever since my mom passed, Celine has been walking on egg shells around me as if I was going to burst at any moment.
And she was right to do so...cause I did feel as if any moment I could. I haven't had breakdown since that night and I wanted to keep it that way. The last thing I wanted to do was take it out on her...like I already have.
That was something I didn't want to repeat and left us in a weird spot.
Celine's way of comfort as of lately was doing everything for me, it was her way of "taking the stress out of my hands". However, I was getting annoyed at this point.
I didn't understand why she was here still being...nice to me.
"Okay I think we are all set to go" she said as she carried Jalen's baby bag in one arm and the car seat in the other.
"I got him just put his bag in the back" I said reaching the hand to grab his car seat
"No I got it" Celine said shaking her head "you just get in the car, I can do it"
"Can you just stop? You do realize it's raining right? You gon get Jalen wet trying to balance all this plus an umbrella. Give him to me" I said with annoyance.
I'm sorry, Celine. I'm sorry.
The words I wanted to say not coming out.
"Okay" she nodded giving in even though I could see the hurt in her eyes.
Grabbing Jalen from her, I handed her one of the three umbrellas by the door and the keys.
Once I securely has Jalen in my arms, I looked down at him to make sure he was okay.
He was all dressed up had it been any other occasion, I would have been more hyped to see him dripped out.
If only momma could see him, she'd lose her mind.
Shutting the door, I made my way to the passengers side as Celine had just finished putting the diaper bag in the back.
