Trey's final regular season game was a success as played some of his best basketball tonight. I'm sure his stats impressed the visiting college scouts—38-point, 16-assist, 16-rebound triple-double.
I just knew he was going to be a star, and I was proud of him.
After celebrating with his teammates he ran up to us "y'all saw that shit today!" Trey said excitedly
"Language" momma said glaring at him but I know she wasn't gonna hold it against him "and yeah I saw it, you were a amazing baby, I'm so proud of you!"
"Yeah you were sweeping all them niggas, shit was crazy! You ain't gotta do 'em like that" I said grabbing his hand and quickly dapping him up.
The score was 74-50 a clear cut victory.
"Why do I bother?" I heard momma mumble under her breath
"Oh my bad momma" I said covering my mouth trying not to laugh
"Mmhm" she said side eyeing me
"Excuse me, if you don't mind me interrupting. I'm Edward Rogen, a college recruitment scout from Duke University. I was wondering if I could have a word with Trey?"
Duke was the top college basketball team in the country, the fact they were showing interest in Trey was a good ass sign.
Trey looked at us wide-eyed and in shock.
"You sure can" I answered nudging Trey foreword.
"Oh gosh sorry for not recognizing sooner but you're Chris Anthony Wide Receiver for the Giants. It's nice to meet you, huge fan" Edward said sticking his hand out excitedly as I shook his back.
"Nice to meet you" I said back with a smile
"And I am Tanya Anthony, the mother of these two" momma said boldly sticking her hand out
"You raised two very talented young gentlemen, both amazing athletes" he said shaking her hand as she blushed
If she don't quit-
"So can I please have a quick word with him?" He asked respectfully
"Uh yeah" Trey finally spoke before turning to us "I'll just be a few minutes"
We both nodded as him and the scout began to walk away
"I don't think it's gonna be a few minutes, look at all those scouts eyeing him up" momma said
And I finally looked and observed. There were about five other scouts from other colleges talking to other students, but also keeping their eye out for when Trey was available to be approached.
"We will just wait by the car, I have something to talk to you about anyway" I said as I lead her out the doors of the auditorium and into the parking lot.
