Anastasia's POV

"I'm not happy about this." Wally sighs quickly turning the TV off as I step into the room with my bag. It's my first big away mission since I've come out of retirement, and we're both taking it hard.

Especially since we know what's going to be the endgame...

"I didn't have to tell you, but we both promised no more secrets," I state in a sing song voice plopping down on the couch next to him. "I know, and it's not you, this whole plan is crazy. Fake deaths, double crossing, lying; it just doesn't feel like our team anymore."

I lean on his shoulder my smirk dropping with my shoulders and head as I rely on him to keep me up. "You can say that again."

Anastasia's POV

I step out of the zeta tube to see Conner, M'gann, La'gaann, and Mal crowded around Artemis while Dick stands in front of them arms crossed clearly waiting for them to finish so he can get to business. "Well now that her highness has shown up we can get started," The dark haired nuisance muses.

"Nightwing don't make me hurt you." I come to a stop next to Artemis giving her a squeeze before I focus on Dick who's eagerly wanting to start debrief. He definitely seems more anxious than normal, but I don't blame him. If we pull this off, our friends may never forgive us, and there's still the possibility that it could be for nothing.

"The mission's Cape Canaveral covert op to safeguard the first Earth-Mars com-sat. There are people out there who don't even like the idea of aliens and will do anything to scrub this launch." He explains, and I notice from the corner of my eye that M'gann tenses up almost immediately.

"But, that's why I came back because not all of us feel that way." Artemis soothes placing her hand on M'gann's shoulder, and I copy her on our martain friends other side. She relaxes, and looks between the two of us with this sad puppy look that says thank you.

It feels like all that time we spent together years ago was just yesterday, and we're picking up right where we left off. To bad we're about to ruin it, and as I catch Artemis's guilty stare behind our friends head I know she's thinking the same thing.

Anastasia's POV

"So why is miss big league gracing us with her presence tonight?" Artemis asks me sliding over the red steel bars that are hiding us. "You know why Artie, but it's also nice being a team again."

"Good to know that even when you're apart of the League your loyalties lie with us." Dick laughs putting his binoculars down so he can focus on us. I nod in agreement, but there's a part of me that feels like I didn't have much of a choice. This is what's expected of me, and it's what must be done.

"I'm sorry guys I... I know this isn't ideal." Dick sighs probably seeing my thoughts in my expression, and my features soften seeing that the gentle not so serious Dick Grayson is still in there.

I haven't really seen a lot of him since... Well since we lost Jason.  After that day there was less laughing on missions, more rules to make sure everyone stayed safe, and it was like the mission became his life.

"If nothing else we have a nice view." Artemis pipes up gazing out towards the horizon with an adoring look, and my eyes follow hers and she's right.
