I'm back and so updates should continue as normal. So without further ado I give you Chapter 18 of Jodie and Marshall.💕
Jodie felt the presence of someone as they sat down on the other side of the bar. Without looking up she asked, ''what'll it be?'' The answer she got was not one she had been expecting in the slightest.
''Your forgiveness would be great,'' pulling her face up she gasped in surprise. Marshall was sat opposite her his elbows leant across the surface on the bar. It was eyes, however, that caught her attention the most; the regret in them and the way he was using them to make him look like a begging puppy.
''Marshall what are you doing here?'' She blurted out even though he had clearly already answered the question only moments ago.
''I've ignored your texts all week and figured you'd probably be mad at me and so I owe you an explanation,'' he replied. Jodie sighed as she picked up one of the glasses from behind the bar and poured him a glass of diet coke. Marshall a little confused took his elbows off the bar and grabbed the glass she'd placed in front of him.
''You've got until you finish that to give me an explanation,'' Jodie raised her eyebrows as Marshall nearly chocked due to the way he was near enough necking the drink. He cursed as droplets fell out of his mouth and clung to his beard. A little embarrassed he wiped the excess water away with the sleeve of his hoodie.
''I got caught up in work ok, with my new album and I got a tour to rehearse for and...''
''Stop. Just stop talking,'' Jodie held up her hand and he clamped his mouth shut. As she stood staring at him he tried to go over what he'd just said, but no matter how hard he tried he had no idea what the reason was that she had stopped him talking.
''All I needed was a reply Marshall, I asked you if you were busy and if you were what time are you free. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have been rehearsing while in the car or having breakfast,'' Marshall listened to every word she had to say until he was sure there was steam coming out her ears, but despite the bitter tone she used she never once rose her voice. Although Marshall was sure the guy next to them was listing to every single word that was being said.
''You're right I should have a least told you that this week wasn't a good week way back on Tuesday and I'm sorry Jo. I like you and I don't wanna give it up just because I simply forgot to tell you I was busy,'' Jodie mulled over his words for a bit. She even glanced over to Mitch who mouthed the words 'forgive him,' that was enough to bring a smile back onto her face; its sudden appearance did make Marshall rather confused.
''You're right I shouldn't have got so worked up about it. You are forgiven,'' Marshall's lit up at her words and he felt a sudden heat rise inside him at how she reached out to then take his hands in hers.
''Jo we're in public remember,'' he pointed out. Jodie shook her head knowingly refraining from leaning further forward to give him a kiss.
''You're right,'' she pulled away and he immediately missed the soft touch of her skin on his, ''that'll be three bucks for the drink by the way.''
''I'm sorry what?'' Marshall blinked a little taken aback, to say the least.
''You didn't think it was free did ya. Come on cough up,'' rather begrudgingly Marshall reached into his jean pocket for his wallet and through five dollars on the bar, ''I want to change and I'll be complaining about the poor service,'' Jodie just smiled and shook her head as she moved over to the register to get his chance.
''Here's your change,'' his eyes widened as he noticed she'd counted out two dollars completely in change.
''What the fuck Jo.''
''You asked for change, so I gave you change,'' she bit her lip and then the inside of her cheek to try and stop herself from laughing. It was becoming considerably harder for her to do so the longer she watched him staring at the mass of coins in front of him. The giggling finally started when she watched him trying to shove the mass of coins into his pockets without dropping any.
''That was no funny Jo,'' Marshall grumbled as he watched her exit from behind the bar area. She'd announced a few seconds ago that her shift had just ended and they'd decided to get a late dinner at his place.
''I found it hilarious. Now wait with Mitch while I go get my shit, I'll be back in a bit,'' She shoved his shoulder with her hand pointing to the seat he had just stood up from. He guessed then that Mitch was the guy that had been listening to there conversation.
There wasn't much choice of seating so he took Jodie's advice and sat back down next to Mitch, who was happily sipping away at his beer. They sat in silence to start with until Mitch cleared his throat and started to speak.
''You make her very happy you know,'' he started, which caught Marshall by surprise.
''She told you about me?'' he questioned turning on the barstool to face the man.
''No specifically, but I figured it was you she was talking about due to what I've just heard. Don't worry I ain't got anyone to tell that too,'' Marshall thanked him quickly before he let Mitch continue speaking, ''last Sunday she wouldn't stop gushing over how she had a date and that she was afraid that she'd let you down. Of course, she never mentioned a name, I assume that was you.''
''Yeah she mention it tonight,'' Mitch shook his head, ''she's been pissed all night hasn't she,'' this time Mitch nodded, ''fuck.''
''Hey, you came back and apologised while she was at work, that takes guts and for you and her sake I hope you stay together because Jodie deserves some happiness in her life,'' when Mitch stopped talking was the split-second Jodie came up behind him.
''You ready Marshall?'' She asked. A little reluctantly his nodded, standing up to take her hand and pull her towards the exit. In truth, he wished she'd taken a little longer getting her stuff because he had one more question to ask Mitch 'why was it so important to him that Jodie was happy?'
