RESCUE TEAM TO THE RESCUE, IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE
I heard fighting in the hall and guessed it was the two working their way out, but failed in the process. Three guys came and got me, hauling me up and shuffling me to the hallway and into the room with Glenn and Maggie they sat me down on the other side of Maggie. I wasn't untied for good reason. I let out a low growl. They covered our faces. I smirked as I starting humming to myself.
"Shut up," Merle growled, at my face, "you've caused us enough trouble."
I heard someone say shit and I tilted my head confused because it sounded like Rick. Then we were hauled up and were forced to move. We went down when there was a loud bang. I was forced up with help as we went, I shrugged off the cover as we ran. We moved into some building once we were on the streets. I was panting dangerously.
"Control your breathing June," Rick ordered.
"She can't," Maggie stated.
Daryl turned towards me as I started to loose focus. I wanted to kill. I wanted to feel the sticky feeling of blood as I killed without remorse.
"Shit, she ticked," Daryl grumbled.
He walked up to me and grabbed my face and forced me to look at him.
"Red, hey. Red."
"I wanna kill him," I growled out.
"June, no," Rick denied, "we need you back June. You hear me? We need you, not this."
Daryl leaned his forehead against mine. I was breathing heavily in anger. Blood and murder was all that I could see.
"Remember what ya said before you left?"
I shook to get out his hands but he held me there.
"Remember..."
"I'll return to ya. I always do, and I always will. You understand?"
I stopped trying to break free and blinked three times before I relaxed and leaned on his shoulder in exhaustion.
"Why's there blood around her mouth," Rick questioned.
Neither Glenn or Maggie told him.
"Rick, how did you find us," Maggie decided to ask.
"How bad are you hurt?"
Daryl cut my ductape and rope as I ripped them off my hands as it tingled. I rubbed my sore wrists before turning back to the conversation.
"I'll be all right," Glenn stated.
"June?"
"Nothing I haven't dealt with before," I shrugged.
"Where's that woman," Maggie questioned.
"She was right behind us," Rick sighed.
"Maybe she was spotted," Oscar offered.
"Want me to go look for her," Daryl asked.
"No. We gotta get them out of here," Rick denied, "she's on her own."
"Daryl," Glenn called, "this was Merle. It was. He did this."
"You saw him?"
"Face to face. Threw a walker at me. He was gonna execute us."
"S-so my brother's this governor," Daryl asked.
"No, it's somebody else," Maggie stated, "your brother's his lieutenant or something."
"Does he know I'm still with you?"
"He does now. Rick, I'm sorry. We told him where the prison was. We couldn't hold out."
"Don't. No need to apologize."
"They're gonna be lookingfor us," I added.
I winced as my face moved, I never felt it until now. Damn, Merle gives a beating. I shook my head before re-concentrating.
"We have to get back. Can you walk? We got a car a few miles out."
"I'm good," Glenn groaned.
"All right."
"Hey, if Merle's around, I need to see him," Daryl argued.
"Not now. We're in hostile territory."
"He's my brother. I ain't-"
"Look at what he did! Look, we gotta-we gotta get out here now."
"Maybe I can talk to him. Maybe I can work something out."
I could hear the desperationin Daryl's voice. He so desperately wanted to see his brother. I leaned back and closed my eyes. I re-opened them.
"No, no, no. You're not thinking straight. Look, no matter what they say, they're hurt. Glenn can barley walk. How are we gonna make it out if we get overrun by walkers and this governor catches up to us? I need you. June, needs you. Are you with me?"
Daryl glanced at me before he nodded, "yeah."Daryl threw out a smoke grenade before we started off. We quickly took cover after we got half way across the street.
"How many," Rick yelled.
"I didn't see," Oscar replied.
"June?"
I shook my head, "can't tell over the gun fire."
"Don't matter," Daryl commented, "there's gonna be more of them regardless. We need to move."
"Any grenades left," Rick questioned.
"Uh-huh."
"Get 'em ready. We gotta gun into the wall."
"You guys go ahead I'm gonna lay down some cover fire," Daryl commented.
"No, we gotta stay together," Maggie denied.
"Too hairy. I'll be right behind you. Ready?"
Daryl chucked the grenade and ducked back in. Once the smoke started up we moved. I stayed with Daryl, covering with him.
I waited until the others were up and Rick was calling for us. I turned to Daryl with saddened eyes.
"You do what you gotta do Daryl," I commented, I quickly kissed his cheek, "if it's seein' your brother, alright."
Daryl turned slightly before catching my arm and turning me towards him.
"I'll come back. I'll come back for ya, okay?"
I nodded before he let go and started covering for us again as I ran towards Rick. I hopped over and we ran for cover. We waited."Come on Daryl," Rick whispered.
I looked down. He wasn't comin' back...we heard rustling and we turned it was some lady.
"Where the hell were you?"
I sighed quietly.
"Put your hands up."
She listened.
"Turn around. Turn around."
She did as told as Rick took her sword.
"Get what you came for?"
"Where are the rest of your people," she questioned.
"They got Oscar," Glenn stated.
"Daryl is missing," Maggie commented, "you didn't see him?"
She shook her head.
"If anything happens to him-"
"I brought you here to save them," she growled.
"Thanks for the help," Rick sarcastically stated.
"You'll need help to get them back to the prison or to go back in there for Daryl. Either way, you need me."
"June. You know where Daryl is?"
I looked Rick dead in the eye. I sucked in a breath and sighed.
"Rick," I started, and I knew he tensed, "you missed all the visible signs...he wasn't gonna follow us out."
"What are you implying," Glenn asked.
My eyes never left Rick's. He seemed to understand, nodding for me to continue.
"He was gonna see his brother."
"And you didn't stop him," Maggie asked.
"He was already planning it discreetly. The reason he was gonna lay down cover fire. His plan wasn't stupid, it was for the person that made it stupid. Rick, he'll see his brother one way or another. We just gotta play it by ear now."
"You gonna tell me about the blood on your face?"
"I bit off the governor's pinkie."
No hesitation and no remorse. Rick's eyes stared right back at me and nodded.
"Okay. Let's get ready to get Daryl then."I took point with Rick and Maggie following behind. I raised my hand to stop us when I heard footsteps. I peaked around then motioned to follow. I was trying to pinpoint voices, I succeeded. Governor, right where Daryl would be.
I made quick haste with the two following. We needed to be quick and stealthy right now and it was working for us. I stopped us and made signals to Rick and pointed to the side. He nodded in understanding. I brushed everyone up on sign language so if something like this happened, we didn't have to whisper.
We watched quietly as Merle was shoved forward and then out came Daryl. I tensed and gripped the gun a bit tighter. That's when everyone started yelling to kill them.
"Rick," Maggie whispered.
I shook my head. Rick nodded.
"Not yet," Rick whispered.
I ain't leavin' without him. Not here. Not with them.
