The bell rang for lunch. Kris was the first to go out of the classroom while Susie followed.

S: Woah, slow down.

Kris slowed to his locker.

S: Eager?

K: As always.

Kris knew his fate was outside of the school.

S: Are you Ok? You have an anxious look in your eyes.

K: I got something I need to take care of outside. Don't follow, just head into the cafeteria, I'll follow you in a minute.

Susie slowly nodded. As Kris put his stuff up, he rushed towards the door. He walked outside, the crisp air finally hitting him. He walked out onto the sidewalk. Once he got to the side of the school, he saw a sober Joshua lying on the side of the building. Kris smiled.

K: Hello, Joshua.

Josh looked up to Kris. His face instantly lit in surprise.

J: Kris Corfield?

K: The one and only.

It'd been years since he heard that last name.

J: What are you doing here? Don't you have other things to be doing than hanging with old me?

K: Well, I came to talk. About your daughter.

Joshua bows down his head, in a mood of despair, grief, and shame.

J: I..just want what's best for her. I just want her to be happy, but the alcohol..takes control. I never mean to, but I'm just hurt from that day.

K: You ain't decent, but you gotta get off from it.

J: I'm trying. I want to be there for her, but I can't even help myself.

K: If you aren't gonna help her, then I'd gladly do it for you.

Joshua lifts his head in shock.

J: You would?

K: Absolutely, but you have to save yourself from the drinking. You aren't the greatest, but I sure as hell see a good light in you.

Joshua's eyes tear up in joy. Like it's the happiest thing he's heard in years.

J: Thank you. For that. I don't know how you remember me, but I'm gonna do it. For her and you.

Kris smiled as he patted Josh's shoulder. Josh slowly got up and looked toward his home.

J: I'll be waiting for you two when school's over.

K: Got it.

Joshua slowly walked away, the smell of alcohol vanishing.

?: Huh. The good light you got in you is bigger than the darkness in you. Never wouldda thought.

Kris turned around. To his surprise, it was the figure he least expected. It was the blue hooded skeleton. Sans.

K: Didn't expect you here.

Sa: Well, I had to see what you were up to.

K: I'm almost done with this whole thing. I'm in the last stretch.

Sa: Well, I wish you luck, kid.

Sans simply walked away. Kris smiled as he headed back to the school. He walked in as his smile dropped back to his normal emotion. He came closer to to the cafeteria. He took a breath in as he opened the doors. He saw groups of kids huddled around Susie. His smile came back up as Susie looked at him. The groups eyes' went onto him, and they all came to him.

?1: Are you two really dating?

K: Yep.

?2: How long have you been dating Susie?

K: Since Sunday.

?3: Why would you date someone like her?

'Where have I heard that one before again?'

K: Because relationships are about personality.

They all nodded their heads as Kris came closer to Susie.

K: How quickly did they go onto you?

S: As soon as I practically stepped in.

They both laughed as Kris sat down next to her.
