Pushing what happened today so far back in her mind, that she actually stopped thinking about it, was not easy. But Tessa had practice in stuff like that. At least for now, she could shove all of that away.
Tessa walked into her kitchen, noticing that what felt like minutes for her were actually a couple of hours and therefore an acceptable explanation for her sudden hunger.
She still only had coffee here, but that would do until Loki was gone and then she could order something. It was that easy now, a phone call and she could eat whatever she wanted – being back home had its advantages too, that was for sure.
Until then, she made herself another cup of coffee, while Loki was watching her from the chair she offered him before.
Tessa was unsure what she could say, but wanted to ask him a lot actually. What of her research was true, but then she had to admit again that she immediately googled him after they met. And that was something she would rather not say out loud.
She wanted to know how his powers worked, what his home looked like. If he missed it, why he decided to become the king of Earth and... more than anything, she wanted to know what motivated him to despise freedom so much.
She remembered every word of his speech, with how much passion he talked about freedom being a lie.
Why he hated lies, as someone who is known to turn words until they fitted the meaning he wanted to give them.
Maybe that was a lie too, maybe what she found out during her research was not true at all. Still, she wanted to be careful with questions like that. He barely knew her, only because Loki was with her at a weak moment where she decided to tell him about Ziva, it did not automatically mean he would end up doing the same.
„I know you have questions, and maybe we should start from there, Tess.", Loki interrupted her thoughts and Tessa looked at him a little unsure.
How could he know that she was thinking about the questions she had? Did he even know or was all of that pure coincidence? She wanted to believe in coincidence, that made accepting things a lot easier, but he talked about destiny like it was a sure and absolutely real thing before... she needed to know though if he was reading her mind.
„Have you been reading my mind, or, can you even do that? Because I thought about the questions I have and you just happen to say something like that at exactly that moment, which is kind of creepy and could be a coincidence, but... did you read my mind?", Tessa asked, pouring the hot coffee into her mug without really paying attention to that, focusing on Loki.
„I can read minds and there will be a time where I probably read yours too, but no, I did not read your mind now. Your face gave it away, and I noticed that questioning look since the first time we met. You agreed to be my soldier without really asking them back then, where I would not have answered you anyway, but I highly doubt you want to rethink that decision. You are curious, and that is not a bad thing for the kind of soldiers I want. So, go on, ask whatever comes into your mind.", Loki said encouragingly, leaving Tessa a bit surprised.
But she would not let a chance like that pass that soon, so she immediately sat down facing Loki and started to ask what she thought was actually the most important thing to know as his soldier.
„So, what exactly is the plan?", Tessa said, taking a sip of her coffee, an anticipating smile showing in her eyes.
„You want coffee too?", she immediately added, standing up before Loki was able to shake his head.
She sat down again, putting her cup on the black wooden table. Loki cleared his throat, before speaking.
„I will wait until Thor believes Midgard is not what I want anymore. He will believe that I am planning to take over the Asgardian throne from Odin because that is what you are going to tell them after you gained their trust. This will lead to Thor racing off, in that vacant way that is common for him, to Asgard and while he is away I will become king.", Loki explained in a speaking speed so fast Tessa had to be extremely attentive to get everything he told her.
