Skai's POV

I texted my dad to see if Giselle and I could stop by his office at lunch and of course he said yes.

I walked down the hallway to his office with Giselle in her stroller and knocked on the door.

"Hey!" my dad said opening the door with a big smile on his face, acting like he didn't just see the two of us this morning.

"Hi daddy," I said giving him a hug. We walked into his office and sat down.

"Let me hold my granddaughter," he said, reaching his arms out.

"Okay, let me get her out of this stroller," I said, taking her out of the stroller and handing her to him.

"Hi Princess!" he said, kissing her head.

I smiled, he was so good with Giselle and Maia.

"So not that I'm not always happy to see you and Giselle, but what brings you here?" he asked.

"I wanted to talk to you about something...in private. I'm going to ask Brandon if Giselle and I can move in with him. I see how much stress mom is under and it might make life a little easier with us out of the house, and besides that it would be better for her to be able to live with her dad."

He nodded. "I think that's a great idea," he answered.

"Really?" I asked.

"Of course. I mean if it were up to me, you'd never grow up and stay home forever. But you have a baby now and you're in a serious relationship, you three should be together."

I smiled, "Thanks for the support, dad. I'm gonna go talk to Brandon after he gets done with work today."

"Sounds good, lemme know how it goes. That all you wanted to talk about?"

I paused for a second, not knowing if I should bring up what I wanted to bring up.

"Dad....what's going on with mom?"

His face immediately dropped.

"I'm sorry, we don't have to talk about it, I'm just so worried about her."

He put his hand over mine, "I'm worried about her too. I think she has postpartum depression or something, but I can't talk to her about it because she blows up at me any time I suggest that she could be anything other than fine."

I nodded, "I know what you mean."

"Hey, don't take anything she says right now personal, between the hormones and sleep deprivation and shit, she doesn't mean it. I'm just trying to take care of her the best that she'll let me."

I nodded, "Ok, hopefully me and Giselle moving out will take a little bit of stress out of her life."

"Hopefully, but don't blame yourself Skai, you know that normally she loves having you around. And she loves you and Giselle even if she can't show it right now."

I gave him a weak smile, "I know. Well I'll let you get back to work...thanks again, dad."

"Anytime," he said helping me get Giselle back into her stroller.

"Let me know what Brandon says."

"Will do, see you later."

I let myself into Brandon's apartment and took Giselle out of her stroller and put her in her crib there since she was fast asleep.

I knew that Brandon would be home any minute so I decided to order a pizza so we could have something to eat when we were done talking.

I heard keys jiggling in the door knob and knew that it was him.

"Hey baby," he said smiling, and came over the kiss me. "Where's my princess?"

"She's sleep, I just put her down."

"Nice, you hungry?"

"Yeah I just ordered a pizza, it should be here soon."

"You're the best, thanks babe."

I smiled, "Of course."

"So I wanted to talk to you about something," he said.

"I actually wanted to talk to you about something too...you go first."

He lightly chucked, "Alright...I was gonna ask if you and Giselle would move in with me. We have plenty of space here and I hate not being able to see the both of you everyday, I wanna be here for you two whenever you need it."

I smiled, "I literally wanted to talk to you about the exact same thing."

"Alright!" He smiled wide, "So we're moving in together?!"

I nodded, "Were moving in together!"

He picked me up and spun me around and I laughed. "When can you move?"

"As soon as possible, really, can you help me this weekend?"

"Yeah, definitely."

"This is really happening!"

"I can't wait."

I spent the night at Brandon's with Giselle, so the next day I decided to go over to tell my mom about me moving out. I honestly didn't know what to expect so I was incredibly nervous. I decided to go over in the morning when the twins were at preschool, so hopefully it'll be a good time for her.

I walked into the house and it was eerily silent.

I finally found my mom standing, just staring out the kitchen window.

"Mom?" I said quietly, not wanting to scare her.

She jumped a little bit before turning around and staring at me with her red, puffy, eyes and tear-stained cheeks. It broke my heart to see her this way but I've learned that usually asking what's wrong is pointless with her, so I decided to just let it go.

"Hi Skai, is everything okay? Where's Giselle?!" she asked frantically.

"Mama, everything is fine, Giselle is with Brandon today, he took the day off from work."

She nodded, "Oh, okay."

"Maia asleep?" I asked, sitting down at the table.

My mom nodded, "Yeah," she said holding up the baby monitor next to her.

"So I wanted to tell you something...don't worry, it's not bad."

"Okay..."

"First, I wanna thank you and dad so much for letting me and Giselle stay here. It's been so helpful. But I think it's time that we move in with Brandon, so we can all be together."

She stared at me with tears coming to her eyes, "I mean, think about it, it'll make this place a lot more peaceful with one less crying infant," I said, nervously laughing, "And don't worry, we're just a few blocks away, we'll be around all the time," I said putting my hand over hers.

She looked at the clock and then back to me, "That sounds great, Skai. I'd love to talk but I gotta get Maia up and ready so we can pick the twins up from preschool, so I'll see you later, okay?" she said, getting up and practically bolting down the hall to Maia's room.

"Umm....okay, bye?" I said to myself, since she had left me alone.

I guess that could've gone worse, I thought before getting up and walking out the door.
