No.
Please just. No. I can't even.
Dialogue. DIALOGUE.
There's a way to write dialogue, and in a lot of books, I don't see the right way to write dialogue.
How do I put this? Even after dialogue, you must continue the sentence.
Example
Wrong way:
"Hello." She says.
"Hi." He responds.
Please no. "'Hello.' She says'" is basically two separate sentences. It's like you're saying hello, but then writing she says as a whole freaking new sentence.
Example
New way:
"Hello," she says.
"Hi," he replies.
YES!! BRAVO!! That.... THAT IS HOW YOU WRITE DIALOGUE!!
(Be glad I'm not swearing)
Make sense?
No?
If you write something ending with an exclamation point, question mark, anything but a period, you don't have to worry about the comma, but you do have worry about the capitalization, like writing "he says" instead of "He says".
Now you understand?
Still no.
Sigh.
Direct message me.
I'll explain.
Happy?
Happy.
