Kristy rubbed her belly as she sat next near the river as Elvin was trying to catch some fish. "You missed, again," she said.
"I know," he growled. "Don't talk; you're scaring the fish away."
She giggled. "Sorry," she smiled.
She peeled the mango and took a bite.
Elvin rushed to her side. "Someones coming, act natural."
"Okay," she licked her lips.
A group of humans were on horses chasing after what looked like a giant cat; it was a panther with a golden bell. She shook Elvin. "Elvin, that's the cat, the one Kat told us about."
"That's the cat?" Elvin frowned. "Kat needs to specific herself. That's not a cat; it's a panther!"
"Do something?!" Kristy said.
"What do you want me to do?" He asked. "I can't go beast mode."
Kristy stood and whistled, calling the panther to them. And it worked; the panther ran over to them.
"Why did you do that?" Elvin groaned.
"Hi there," she pats the panther head. "Your part of Kat."
The panther rub against her belly, Kristy smiled. "I am, Kat entrusted me with her powers. But those hunters have been after me for quite some time; the humans are only trying to kill me to mount my head on the wall. Foul creatures they are."
"Yes," Kristy smiled. "Do they not see your someone's pet." Kristi scratch behind its ear. "Male or female?"
"Female," she said. "I'm pregnant about to give birth at any moment."
"Oh," Kristy smiled. "I am too; it's okay; we'll protect you right, Elvin?"
"Yes," he said.
The hunters stopped on the other side of the river and were aiming at the panther. An arrow almost hit her, but Elvin tried to catch it, but it went through his left hand.
"Ah," he groaned. "Damn it!" He growled, and Kristy could see his claws extend.
She placed her hand on his shoulder. "Breathe."
"What the hell are you doing?!" One of the men yelled. "Move out of the way! I had a perfect shot!"
"This panther is pregnant!" Elvin said. "You have no right to kill it! And this panther is ours! She's our companion."
"That panther is a wild animal," the man said.
"Do you not see the collar?" Kristy asked. "You mean, are always killing innocent and beautiful creatures. You'll get punished."
The man got off his horse and was about to cross over when another group of men arrived. "Hunting in our sanctuary, again? You filthy rich folks think you can do as you wish, but you're mistaken. Get out of here, and if I see you again ill shoot, you like an animal and skin you alive."
The groups of hunters got back on their horses and left.
The other group looked at them. "Is that your panther?" The man asked.
"Yes," Kristy said. "We lost Zoey for a moment, but she came back to us."
"Sorry about those hunters," he said. "They aren't supposed to hunt around these parts."
"It's fine," Kristy said. "I'd hope we aren't trespassing; my husband and I are camping."
"It's fine," he said. "Your shy and should get his hands checked out."
