Never Leave (Klance Fanfic)

Chapter 1 - What Happened?

Lance POV

What happened? I mess up on a few missions, then I get treated like an outcast. I get pushed aside and cast in the shadows of everyone I thought cared about me. Pidge pushes me away no matter how many times I try to help her. You know, convince her to sleep and take care of herself but she just throws comments that I'd prefer not to mention.

Hunk doesn't even talk to me anymore, once he was the rock I could always rely on but now he doesnt' even see me. Shiro and Allura bash me on every mission whether I do good or not, and Coran is just... Coran.

I don't talk to him much because he's always busy, but on the days I do he is nice to me. 

Surprisingly Keith has been talking to me, he's been...nice? It seems too good to be true, but he's saved my ass plenty of time from Allura and Shiro. He's even helped me with training and make an effort into talking to me when I seem down.    

I am still a bit uneasy about the whole thing but I try not to act too nervous when we speak.  

"ALL PALADINS HEAD TO YOUR LIONS! ALL PALADINS HEAD TO YOUR LIONS!"

I quickly change into my suit and run to my lion, as soon as I'm in I can hear Shiro's voice.

"Lance, don't mess up this time." 

I frown, "Ok."

We make our way to the battlefield, Galra bots shooting at us left and right. I take down a lot, but I get shot a couple of times. I turn to see a bot sneaking up on Shiro's lion, I aim and shoot it down. I see Shiro's lion turn to me, Allura's voice is heard.

"Well done Paladins, return to the ship." 

We all fly back to the ship, once I get out of my lion I get punched in the gut. I fly back, landing on the hard and cold ground. "You could have killed me! Wh-" He gets cut off, I look up to see Keith punching Shiro shutting him up in the process. 

He runs over to me but I start to lose consciousness, only one question running through my mind. 

'Why me? What Happened?'

Keith POV

What the hell is going on!?

My former enemy, rival, whatever you want to call it is being treated like trash. I don't understand why? He can literally breathe and he's punished for it. Hunk and Pidge either ignore him or push him away. Shiro and Allura beat him up and push him around when he slips up or doesn't do enough on missions. 

And Coran is just Coran, he is the only one besides me on this ship that doesn't treat Lance like shit. 

I've been observing him for a while, talking to him when I can and training him for a while. Today is the final straw, Shiro had no right to punch Lance for saving him.

Yes, you read right, SAVING HIM!

I ignore the shouts from Shiro, Allura, and Pidge as I pick up Lance and carry him to his room. I lay him down on his bed and pull up his shirt, ignoring the blush I feel rising on my cheeks.

I see a dark bruise, I growl and quickly make my way to his bathroom. Under all bathrooms there is a first aid kit, I get Lances to see he's short on supplies. 'I need to get more for him.'

I take what's left and treat his wound, I try to do anything I can to make sure he doesn't feel a lot of pain when he wakes up. Once I'm done treating him I notice him crying, I give him a sad smile and wipe his tears away. I lay down next to him and slowly drift off to sleep with him in my arms.

Later On 

I wake up, I look down to see Lance still asleep. I smile at his tear-stained face, I frown.

"We need to leave."

I get up and make my way to my room packing some clothes and basic needs. 

Lance POV

I shoot up, remembering the nightmare that pledges my mind. I look around to see nothing but darkness. Memories of the months of sadness, of pain, drown me and turns into anger.

"I'm done."

'I can't take it anymore, I need to leave!'

I stuff my clothes in a bag and sneak out of my room. I run to the escape pods, I toss my stuff in it.

"Lance?"I turn my head to see Keith with a bag in his hand, I give him a confused look. "What are you doing here? You know what never mind. Don't stop me."

I turn back to the pod before I could get in a hand stops me. I turn around to see Keith, he gives me a serious look.

"I'm not going to stop you. I'm going to join you."

I turn my head to the side, but he continues.

"That's why I have this bag, I was going to pack our stuff and leave this place with you."

I stare at him, all those times when he was nice to me and was there for me when no one else was. All those times weren't tricks, he's being serious he is genuine about it.

"Let's go."

He throws his stuff into the pod and we get in, "I don't know where we're going to go but we have enough fuel to get to a couple of planets." He nods and pushes the red button, then were off.
