Chapter 7 - Warm

I has to be them!'

We finally made it there, we watch as a dirty pod returns to its holder. We stand to wait for the door to open when it does we all watch as 2 male figures step out.

"K-Keith, L-Lance?"

Lance gives me a small smile, "Hello."

Hunk POV

I run over to Lance and engulf him in a warm hug, "I'm s-so s-sorry!" I started to cry, "I'm sorry for making you feel alone! I'm sorry for pushing you away. I am so sorry! Please forgive me!"

I notice his arms are still at his side, he's aged. Gotten a bit taller a bit more muscular. As my hope was soon fading I felt his warm arms around me, returning my hug. I look up at him, he gives me one of his famous smiles. I miss his smiles.

"Water under the bridge bro."

Once he said bro, my tears never stopped. I get down on my knees letting all the stress and sadness go. He gets down with me, rubbing my back trying to calm me down. Once I do, I look but to be met with his ocean blue eyes and his friendly smile. 

He helps me up, I look over at Keith to see him smiling at me. I go over and give him a big hug as well. 

I make sure only he can hear. "Thank you for taking care of him." He bats my back, "No problem." 

Once we separate Allura clears her throat, we look over to see her a bit relaxed. "Keith. Lance. I'm glad you have returned, even more, glad that Keith has convinced you to come." She looks over to Lance, I can see the annoyance in her eyes. Before I could speak up Keith beat me to it. 

He throws her a fierce glare making her flinch, "Accually I didn't want to come, but Lance saw your message to the universe and dragged me along." We watch as he stands behind Lance and places his hand his hip, pulling him closer to his chest.

"Badmouth Lance again, and I won't hesitate to take him and leave. You know what why are we even wasting our time." He pulls lance to there pod but hears a loud thud. We turn to see Pidge on the floor. 

"PIDGE!" 

Lance runs over to her without a second thought, leaving us in his dust. He checks her pulse and sighs, he then notices the bags under her eyes and her thinner frame. He gives her a sad smile and picks her up. 

Without a word, he walks past us and makes his way to her room, Keith looks at us and frowns. Shiro looks a bit ashamed, "You will stay, and help us end the war. Please!" Keith just glares at him, "Once Lance is done with Pidge we'll leave." He looks over to me, "I advise you to leave with Pidge, make sure she stays safe. Has she found her family?" 

I frown, "Yes, Matt and her father and with the Blade helping them out since they couldn't do much here."

"Please!"

We look over to see Allura and Shiro on their knees, begging. 

"Please help us, we're sorry! We need to put down the Galra, we can't do that without Voltron." 

I look over to see Keith thinking, "So Lance was right, surprising how you couldn't find our replacements." She looks away, "Your Lions wouldn't let anyone pilot them. We are on our last leg."

I walk past them, "We'll think about it."

Keith POV

I walk away from them making my way to Pidge's room, once I open the door I see Lance tucking her in. I smile and walk over to him, "Need anything from me? Any help?" He looks up at me and nods, "Can you get some food, I assume she hasn't been eating." 

I nod and kiss his forehead, "I'll be back."

I walk out and make my way to the kitchen, once I get there I see Hunk drinking a glass of water. He gives me a small wave, "Can you whip something up for Pidge?" His eyes start to sparkle, "Sure!" He starts to get some ingredients, I lean against the countertop as I watch him cook.  

Hunk breaks the silence, "So you and Lance?"

I chuckle at his introduction to the conversation, "We're dating, have been some time after we let and settled down." Hunk stops cooking and looks over at me with his mouth wide open, I just smile. "I'm actually planning on proposing and starting a family with him once we finish with you guys, once the war is over."

I watch as he starts to get excited, "You two are going to help us!"

I nod, "Lance was the one who convinced me, he wants this war to be over. And once it is, we're heading back home."

Hunk nods and continues to cooks, "So where is your new home?" I shrug, "Nowhere important." I wanted to drop the topic and Hunk knew that so we continued to chat until the food was done.

I take the plate, "Thanks."

He nods, "No problem, I'll see you later."

I nod and walk out, once I make it back to Pidges room I see Lance coming out of the bathroom with a cup of water. He smiles at me and takes the plate, "Thank you." He kisses my cheek and sets down her food and water.

She starts to toss and turn, but Lance rubs circles on the back of her hand calming her down in the process. He tucks her in again and pulls a chair, I sit next to him we whisper small conversations to each other until I notice his upper body on the bed fast asleep.

I lean back and join him soon after.

Pidge POV

I slowly open my eyes, the first thing I see is the white but dark ceiling. I look over to see a sleeping Lance and a knocked out Keith next to him. From the corner o my eye I notice a glass of water and some food or me. I can't help but cry. 

My silent sobs didn't go unnoticed, "Are you ok Pidge?" Lance wipes my tears all I can do is shake my head no, "I'm so sorry. I missed you, Lance." He continues to wipe my tears and gives me a warm smile, "I missed you too."

My cries continue, "Here." He sits me up and places a plate with food in front o me. "You need energy." I nod and take some bites, I start to grow thirsty. Lance must be able to read minds because he already had a cup of water ready. 

"T-thank you."

He smiles, "No problem, Katie."

I look at him, his warmth. The warmth I took for granted, I let my tears fall once more.

"L-lance."
