Chapter 12 - We Won

Keith POV

We get our weapons ready as the castle jumps through wormholes. I look out the window, watching the stars zoom by. 

"Lance?"

I look at the reflection to see Princess Allura, she looked nervous. "Yes?" 

"I'm sorry for the way I've treated you." I turn around to face her, she looked defeated, betrayed, empty. 

I give her the biggest smile I could muster, "Water under the bridge, let's just focus on getting to the milky way to defeat Sendak and the last of his followers."

That's what I'm most worried about if we don't get there on time then earth with crumble. That's the vision I saw, the death of so many people. 

"Lance?" I turn around to see Princess Allura do the same, I can't help but smile seeing Keiths. We lock eyes as he returns the smile he grows serious. 

"We're almost there, we're already detecting Galra ships." I nod, "Let's start with phase one of our plan, it's time for Pidge to head out."

He nods rushing out, "Allura, you should head out two. You can either go with Pidge or stay with Shiro. Either one is preferable." She nods and leaves me alone once again, I look at the stars in aw. 

"I can't wait, to go back home. Back to the village."

Home, that word is so new to me. At one point home was earth, with my family but now it's Keith and Genta. My family... will they even accept me if I told them about Keith and me? Would they even want me around?

I slap my cheeks, "Not the time to overthink!"

I walk out of the room, taking long strides, once I make it to the gang I see Pidge and Allura missing. I smirk, "It looks like our assassins are already on the move."

We watch on the big screen as the number of drones and ships begin to disappear. Not only is Allura space hoping to destroy the drones. While Pidge is taking the bigger ones with her lion's invisibility powers.

"It's time for phase 2. Shiro, Hunk, it's time to make our presence known." Hunk nods while Shiro just walks over to his lion. We watch the screen as they start to draw attention to themselves, bringing in enemy forces.

"Coran?"

He looks at me and smiles, giving me a thumbs up.

"I'm already on it! The others are already waiting for me."

He runs out, getting the ship's defense ready to back up the others while sneaking us closer to Sendak's ship. We'll corner him, destroy his ship from the sides while Keith and I get a head start. Afterward, the rest will stand in position and we'll attack.

I look at Keith, we nod as we run to our lions to watch the progress. Once I got in, we waited for the signal, for Hunk to tell us to go. 

Their numbers begin to dwindle, they start to stand up on Hunk and Shiro but Pidge and Coran start to back them up.  They were working in perfect sync.

"LANCE! KEITH! IT"S TIME."

With that, we zoomed out of the castle going full speed ahead toward the main ship. While Keith blast the sides, I freeze them breaking major parts of there defense. 

"There main ship weapons are immobile! Aim for the windows! Keep attacking the ship.

The others used the bots, tricking them to attack the main ship. Soon the ship was starting to fall apart, "Allura! On to Phase 3!"

Pidge and Shiro fly side by side, giving Allura a space to slip through a broken window. Her job is to face Sendak and place a tracker on him, so then we take this ship down we can confirm his death.

While we continued to destroy the bots and damage the ship I heard a beep. A purple dot formed, "Great Job Allura! Pidge, Shiro, bring her to safety."

Once Allura was back in Shiro's ship, he yelled over the intercoms. 

"FORM VOLTRON!"

I whisper, "We can win this."

We form Voltron, it's weird. I can feel the spirit in all the lions.

"This is our last battle together. You've fought for so long, and it's finally coming to an end."

I close my eyes, letting my instincts guide me. I feel the power around me grow.

Keith POV

"What's going on!?"

Before my eyes, Voltron starts to grow stronger. Our booster bloom into wings and our sword grows in size. Our lions our in perfect sync.

Shiro cuts off the confusion of others. "Don't get shaken up, we need to strick!"

With that we move in sync as our sword sliced the large ship, making it explode. I observed the tracker, "He's still alive."

Lance quickly responds, "Allura, you should follow the tracker. We'll be right behind you to finish the job."

We slowly follow her as we are met with a floating...headless Sendack. Allura screams, "Why is he headless!?"

Pidge answers as she flys back, "It looks like he's been without oxygen for too long, so his head exploded."

Hunk hesitates, "So in other words...we won?"

I sigh, "Yup, we won."
